We've had a dozen threads on here before about the issue, so I'm making Lucky #13.

With a little brains - both on the part of the engineers and on the drivers - it could work, but my bf points out that it'll cut into parking space. There's the old Baptist church that's taking up space, which could be sacrificed for a parking complex, and of course the Dan Allen parking structure which was under construction back in June may or may not be still open for full capacity at the point I'm making this (being a graduate means I don't use this shit anymore and I'm not up to date, let me know how this is coming along, people). There's a lot of hogging of parking spaces behind shops where half-faded signs call dibs on random numbered spaces with ticket-happy pigs waiting in the vicinity. I remember numerous TWWers pointing out the fact that we can easily transition from perpendicular parking to angled spaces which would save space as well.

Where would we park if this were to go through? Does the student body still approve of this year-long delayed project? Is it even worth the taxes, or could we just cope with waiting for a left-turn opportunity?

Where(address)?

How does this relate?

Huh? On what road?

Quote :

In an available parking space.

Dunno

Whenever there is a construction contract on NCSU's campus the university will never give up parking spaces. They will always create more spaces for any that are taken during construction or after construction. A parking space on NCSU's campus is worth about $10,000 (Learned from a CE class).

I was just joking about the Baptist church deal*, since they still use it and all. But it would be a good parking deck for Hillsborough Street, since it could be easily converted.

*It's the structure across the street from the Man-Mur shoe store/barbershop/coffeeshop center.

And I'm also considering the fact that in the time it takes to finalize plans and begin construction, student population will have gone up, so they'll want to compensate and plan for much more parking. Maybe twice or three times the space?

I still have no idea how you came to the conclusion to even ask the questions that you are asking.

The loss of parking spaces was something that I thought might occur, but in hindsight, it would be no more than eight parking spaces at each light, depending on how wide the circles are. I also may be way the fuck off base here.

I guess the real question is, are traffic circles even worth putting on Hillsborough?
