If you presume that the republican party is the party of choice for our Christian nation , shouldn't the republican party favor a redistribution of wealth as Obama's plan does as stated by McCain?
I have not heard Pat Robertson from the 700 Club come out in favor of Obama's plan yet.
I can recall many Sundays when I was advised against the accumulation of wealth and material possessions, strongly encouraged to be satisfied with the bare essentials, and encouraged to share with others who were not deserving or were disadvantaged.

I heard a clip on the radio yesterday where Hank Williams Jr. was opening for a McCain rally and he told this story, to try to demonstrate what "socialism under Obama" would be like. He said:
"Imagine I go into a restaurant and have dinner. I eat, and pay, then instead of giving you, the waiter, $10 for a tip since you worked for it, I go outside and give $10 to the homeless man sitting on the street doing nothing!"
yeah.... nice one, Hank.... to make an argument against socialism, you.... make fun of donating to the homeless? Yeah, that will get McCain lots of votes!

Two guys are walking down the street and come across a poor person. They both feel sorry for the hapless victim of pure chance, but one man pulls out a gun and points it at the other- demanding he give the poor person $50.
That's how gov't "spreads the wealth"
Ol' Hank should've used that one. 10/31/2008 12:17:22 AM |

^ I agree, maybe he should have, if that was the point he was trying to make. it was just bewildering to me how he worded it, and I wondered if anyone from the Campaign had cleared that story. 10/31/2008 12:19:30 AM |

I got an extended version of that in a forwarded e-mail, so I guess I'll share.
Quote : | "On my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read " Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.
My server had on a "Obama 08" tie,--what a coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need. The server stormed from my sight.
Outside, I gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server as I've decided he could use the money more. He was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application." |

There are people whose political views aren't whole, complete, and beautiful. Such people are capable of advocating laissez-faire economics and socialism for social issues, just like a scientist who demands peer-reviewed proof for every aspect of his work can be a Christian, a system of morality based on faith, not proof.10/31/2008 12:52:04 AM |
