So I'm in Galveston doing this Hurricane relief bit and selling construction jobs as well... My landlord turned out to be a mortgage broker and also writes SBA Disaster Relief Loans... These loans are designed for homeowners who did not have wind/flood insurance and took a large loss. It allows them to borrow money on a long term, low interest loan to repair their homes.

Question is: Aside from knocking on every door in Galveston, seeing who doesn't have insurance, and passing out information... What would be a LOW cost means to market these loans on a semi-large scale.

i guess thats my question... How would one go about determining which addresses did not have insurance. Is there a way to get a list of uninsured places and flyer them all?

try some kinda of viral or guerilla marketing strat?

spraypaint stencils or a viral youtube video? (youtube might be less effective, since a guy without a home probably lost his computer in the mix, too.)

duh....you can't tell who is uninsured..so you have to send it with everyone with "ATTENTION UNINSURED HOMEOWNERS! THIS IS YOUR LUCKY DAY!" written in big letters on the front just like everyone else.

right.... but i'm not a company and I don't have the money to send fliers to 30,000 homes

There's also not "everyone" doing this.... Most of these homeowners I've spoke with are completely uninformed because for the most part they are left at the mercy of FEMA to inform them of their options (which they don't do in most cases)

ur a fucking idiot.... I'm giving people with destroyed houses and no money to fix them, low interest loans to be able to move back into their homes and move on with life- If it weren't for these loans, some people would be paying a mortgage on a house while struggling to survive living in a shelter.

^^^I don't think you can win a thread with a post and declare victory in that same post...usually you let others do that....it's lame and negates your cool post.

Anyways, maybe post fliers or contact FEMA? I dunno dude, that's why you are in the business and we aren't. Clearly we don't understand a lot about the situtation.

^^sure i'm making a few hundred bucks for writing the loan... Obviously the SBA is going to throw kickbacks for making them money and writing loans but that certainly doesn't discount the fact that this service is HELPING people- Nothing in this world is free and with FEMA guys who get paid more for giving out less this is the only option some people have.

^ yeah- unfortunately i'm not really "in the business". This whole thing was just kinda tossed at me (in regards to the loans) on monday and I'm pondering ways to get the word out. Not even sure where u would post this on craigslist and with everything going on it is just too hard and expensive to print thousands of door hangers and put them at every house with a blue tarp on the roof.

yes they do... Such as the food I serve at shelter every morning/evening, the clothes/toys my g/f collects for red cross, and the homes I help build for close to nothing (insurance proceeds) to get people on the track to rebuilding their lives....
