The town council was late to coming to any decisions, didn't promote them well, and as such they said hey are projecting & preparing for this year to be as big or bigger than last years 80,000 (I'm sure taxi's will fill any busing gap), but with their new pro-active anti-crowd planning, next year will surely be drastically reduced. This is the last chance to see Franklin St in all its glory... as some would say at the only night worth spending in Chapel Hill.

They have taken steps this year, but too little and too late, and they still expect it to be about as big or bigger than last year. Being this pro-active represents a change for the council's position on the street party, so with a whole year to plan next year they will take more significant actions & announce them much more. It couldn't have been more than a week or two ago that they held that press conference at Top of the Hill to announce their decisions & the only reason I even knew about that conference was through listening to a local AM radio station. Most of their efforts to make things smaller are meaningless because they made them after people already had plans to come here, and they didn't really reach out very far to let people know about those changes, but after this year when everyone sees this first hand, then they will know for next year and thus it will be smaller. I still fully expect this year that taxi's will be out in force at all the popular park and ride locations just like they are every year for anyone who has $3 to spare.
