Young kids....like 3 grade and lower start as soon as it gets dark which is around 7.

Older kids 4th and up start about that time but stay out later.

It's been like that for as long as I know....no fun trick-or-treating while it's light but start as soon as it's dark and it's fun.

It sucked when I moved to Hickory....cause we would actually have to wear warm costumes...normally in Newport we could wear whatever we wanted.
