It is controversial
It is hated
but It is also WILD AND CRAZY
A number of things could happen:
As of right now Alabama vs. Texas Tech for the National title
I heard several scenarios on the radio of how 2 Big 12 teams could play for the national title and not even be the BIG 12 CHAMPION!!!!
I am sticking with my preseason pick and I know a lot will still have to happen but I am sticking with......

No way TT finishes the season undefeated. I am still thinking Penn State versus UF after the Gaytors beat Bama for the SEC title.
Texas could sneak back into the chase to depending on how the OU, TT, and OkSt stuff shakes out.
PAC-10, ACC, and Big Least need not apply.

^^I dont know how you can justify oklahoma as 2 and texas as 5 imo. Texas has them head to head and at this point in the season I think Texas has played a tougher schedule.

OU had a few key injuries on defense when they played Texas, not saying they would've won with those players, but if Texas loses another game, and Oklahoma wins the Big 12, I think they're justified as the best team in the conference despite the head to head early in the season. 11/3/2008 1:42:45 PM |

well yea.. but if someone is saying "the best teams right now" I dont think you can just hand texas another loss, give OU the conference championship and use that to justify OU being better today. And right now I think Texas still gets the nod over OU from me.11/3/2008 3:30:41 PM |

the griping about PSU is just fucking retarded...it's like people forget that they absolutely housed Oregon State who went on to beat USC
tOSU played out of their fucking minds on defense in the game this year, had a healthy Beanie Wells, and still lost in a game that PSU was obviously playing not to lose
if an undefeated PSU doesn't make the title game over a one loss team, that's more of a death knell for the BCS than the LSU 2-loss bid was last year
PSU =/= tOSU 2008 =/= 2007 11/3/2008 4:08:52 PM |

1) they play in the big ten which is arguably worse than the ACC from top to bottom this year 2) they don't have a conference championship game 3) we just finished watching a big ten team get their ass spanked in the NC game the last two years.
I mean, yeah, if they are one of two teams undefeated, then unfortunately they will probably go the national championship game over a more deserving Florida, OU or USC team, but that doesn't mean they should.11/3/2008 4:25:31 PM |

Everyone is just sick of the Big 10, that's all. Yes, beating a healthy OSU team away is impressive, but when was the last time OSU won a big game before that? Vs. Michigan in 2006? If it was a top 10 ooc opponent they played away instead of OSU, there wouldn't be any talk or retardedness

Arizona is the only decent team in that four game stretch and they're 5-3. Arizona had every chance to beat them too. Take them out and they had their three shutouts were against teams that are a combined 3-22. They have a better defense than 1/2 the teams in the NFL - they should be shutting out cupcakes. Any top 15 D1 would have done what they did.

^^ it has nothing to do with choking. OSU and the rest of the big ten has inferior athletes and inferior teams to the SEC and the Big 12. They have inflated records because their conference sucks and they don't have a conference championship. 11/11/2008 9:19:11 AM |

speaking of the BCS, ESPN just made a bid today to televise all 5 BCS games and are offering 25 million more a year than FOX is currently offering.
For all of us that want to see a playoff, it may never come now. ESPN will be laying off all of their playoff talk that they push b/c of all of the money they will be paying. BCS conferences and presidents of schools will now make even more money and be further opposed to a playoff.
This just ruined any chance at a playoff, assuming the bid goes through, at least until the contract is up for renewal, whenever that will be. 11/12/2008 2:55:14 PM |

Here is why the Big Ten can suck it and no Big Ten team should play in the NT game:
1 - Your conference is called the Big Ten, but you have 11 teams. Fix that.
2 - You don't have a conference championship and you don't play a full schedule. Pick one. The PAC 10 (which doesn have ten teams) actually plays a full 9 game conference schedule, the Big East plays a full slate of conference games. The Big 12, SEC, and ACC play have divisions and a conference championship game. In 5 of the 6 BCS conferences there is a legitimate champion. Only in the Big Ten do you end up with the completely fucked proposition of 2 teams going undefeated in conference play and "co champions." Due to the "unique" setup of this league it is entirely too easy for 2 teams from this soft as butter conference to go to BCS games. Fix it. Either drop somebody, pick somebody up, or play 10 conference games.
3 - Your conference is shitty year in and year out. You can expect to see 2 good teams max in the Big Ten in a given year, but since it is so top heavy it's easy for the 4 or 5 decent teams to inflate their records. It's very similar to how the ACC used to be (when FSU was good and everyone else blew). It must be nice to look over your schedule and see Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue, Michigan State (who is hit or miss at best), and Minnesota who all traditionally suck and then get a couple other teams on "down years". This year, the ACC, which blows epic cock has 8 teams over .500. The Big Ten has 6.
4 - Your fans are so fucking stupid that they'd rather play in a meaningless bowl game than have a true national title game. I'm all for letting the Big Ten and the PAC 10 play in the rose bowl every year then the rest of the country can just go back to ignoring them as usual. The only problem is that every couple of years USC is actually legitimately good enough to contend for a national title so we'll miss out on seeing them play Florida or Texas. Big fucking deal. 11/12/2008 5:26:43 PM |

big ten teams won't play in the NT game only because, and IF, they won't be able to be competitive in it
not because A) the big ten is a weak conference... ok great??? who cares B) the big ten does not have a conference championship game... ok great??? who cares C) the big ten has 6 teams this specific year only over .500... ok great??? who cares D) the big ten has 2 solid teams at best every year... ok great??? what does that prove
none of those issues can prevent a team from still being the best in the country... all your points prove is that it is possibly easier to go undefeated 11/13/2008 12:09:33 AM |
