I voted McCain even though I didn't really like him.

I feel a bit nervous about what President Obama will do, but I am trying to stay hopeful.

When we invaded Iraq and toppled the Saddam statue, that was a historic and fabulous day for America - and we can see how that turned out.

I am just looking forward to the day when people start realizing that we elected a president, nothing more. How he does in office will determine if this was historic or not.

What if things get worse? what if his tax plan brings on a 2nd great depression, just like raising taxes on business and wealthy did under Hoover?

Congrats on the win, but honestly, get over yourself, it's not that big of a deal. How he does as a president is far more important than the color of anyone's skin....

And since no one talks about it, he IS half White too....

I am tentatively happy enough. Admittedly I would have been happier if McCain had won, but I'm not upset either way. I just hope things don't go as far south as I worry they might.

I mean, besides the fact that modern politicians shit all over the documents with their policies, it makes much more sense than using holy books... and honestly, even a bible nut would have a hard time forming an argument against signing someone in on the document they are elected to uphold.

swearing in on the Bible means you are swearing an oath under God to do all you can to help the US as president of this country (in a not so good summary). Now the Bible in this country obviously does not mean what it once did but when this was started when our country was founded it represented something truly important.

these verses in ecclesiastes prob. had something to do with it i would say:

just makes it very important to keep the vows made before God. but like i said this country is not nearly as focused on the Bible as it once was

just to add as well: swearing on the Bible was so important to our founding fathers, majority christians, becuase you were swearing BEFORE GOD to uphold the constitution and all it said. so in essence you were swearing on both but it was before God. Used to mean a lot in this country

whatever the people that will advise him on it tell him what the best way to go is; he has little experience with something of this magnitude and will need advice from people that have been dealing with the situation and have more experience in these types of matters

hopefully he is advised very well; regardless of our economy, which is fine by the way (if the media would quit making this such a HUGE issue it wouldn't be that bad), the biggest issue facing our country is terrorism, the wars, and our foreign relations imo. this is why i voted mccain. i seriously fear for our country's safety for the coming years and hope obama is ready to handle this increasingly fragile situation
