I agree with this. I don't know that I've ever been more proud to be an American, but I've certainly been plenty proud before.

Evan, you're forgetting that USA RULEZ #1

the most obvious issue is the embarrassment we call our healthcare system.

yes, this is actually a more accurate representation of my sentiments - i should have phrased that differently.

for the record - i have never been more proud to say that i'm a citizen of the united states of america.

I've never been ashamed to be an American....but I've definitely been embarrassed during times over the last 6 or 7 years.

I traveled all over Europe for the last 2 months defending the shit out of our country. Most of the time I had to admit..."yeah, we fucked up."

But I'm damn proud right now.

being from a country that proved the democracy experiement, the only country founded on ideals and an idea, not religion, race, borders, etc, was less important that a president that would only be there for 8 years? there are limits for that exact reason

Why?

You can't force people to make the same decisions you do. Or respect them. Or agree with them. It wouldn't be America if you could

Just because a large portion of the population sucks ass doesn't mean the country is something to be ashamed of. Now, if they continue on the current downward mental spiral for another generation or two, we'll at least be able to say "We had one hell of a ride and effected a lot of change".

It's a lot easier to separate America's public image from an individual American when you're standing face-to-face with one. Grab a mirror, son.
