on the way back from the airport on 40 i got pulled for doing 80 in a 65, cop didn't use his radar gun(i have a radar detector and he admitted to following behind me for a while,) and i know for a fact i was doing 70 and that my speedometer is correct(looked down as soon as lights turned on, speedometer said 70, he claimed at the time he pulled me i was doing 80 and accelerating)i can't afford the ticket or a lawyer at this point(well if i want to make rent next month that is)any ideas for what i can do?

call up the DA and ask if he can reduce it to 9 over.

1st appearance: you claim to hire your own lawyer2nd: continuance3rd: continuance4th: represent yourself, request discovery (they'll also give you a continuance)hire a cheap lawyer, go with "deep freeze tactic"5th: not guilty, continuance6th and on: before long, either the cop won't show, the da won't care or the judge will be tired of the bullshitresult: dismissedknudsen, glick, maybe sparrow, clay, shackelford, possibly vanderweet. $250-$500.

^you could spend that much and just hire a decent lawyer from the beginning and not worry about it anymore.

One time I didn't send in my speeding ticket to the courts so they sent me a note a month later saying my license would be suspended. It would of been my 2nd ticket under the age of 17 so I would of had my license suspended (this was right before summer and I needed to drive to work). So I signed and dated the back of my speeding ticket for three days after the ticket (in the spot where it asks if I want to go to court about the ticket). I made copies of the ticket and went to the DMV to tell them that I had never received a letter that told me my court date. He apologized, did some stuff on the computer and then told me I would be receiving a letter about a court date soon. That move bought be 6 months but I still got to keep my license for the summer. The DA ended up letting me off anyway.
