backpack or handheld] 11/8/2008 7:45:09 PM |

depends on the size of what your using it for. If its a small area i wouldn't spend that much money on one so a handheld would be your best bet, but if the area is fairly large a backpack is so much easier. They also usually have a little more power. I've used both kinds and prefer a backpack. 11/8/2008 9:25:57 PM |

i'd get a backpack... i've had experience with both echo and stihl. I like Echo products best, but the Stihl worked great also....
If you go with the backpack, make sure it has the hand-held trigger throttle control... (harder you squeeze, harder it blows)... They are making them surprisingly more powerful, yet quieter than they used to be. 11/8/2008 10:30:29 PM |

Avoid almost everything in Home Depot/Lowes. Get to a home/garden store where you get chemicals for animals and such. The local feed & seed hooks us up.
We've used the Homelite (crap) the Stihl (not bad, has a nice weight to it - a lot of load off my dads back) but finally settled on the Shindiawa.
Older/bigger model (is currently replaced by the blue one) but looks like http://www.shindaiwa.com/nam/en/products/blowers/eb802.php
It's baller. It's also heavy. However we have ~1.5 acres of leaves. With this and a yard vac we can wrap it up in 20-30 minutes. Sucker will blow over mountains.
If you're looking hand held get a RedMax. They've got a lot of little extras like vibration damping and a hand hold on the bottom (people in a hurry use these 2-handed....) Worth the extra $40 for SURE. 11/10/2008 1:27:56 AM |
