I've got a Latitiude D620 and the fan is always running (at a pretty fast rate). Unless I'm just mindless, I don't remember the fan running this much in the past.

Possible issues? I took the fan out and blew out the dust, it's pretty clean now, but no improvement.

Also, what would be the normal temperature range for the CPU & internal HDD? I'm running at 46 and 37, respectively.

Did some research. The fan is supposed to run all the time. I reloaded the bios and it fixed the fan speed issue (much lower now). And the temp has fallen to 79.

I'm still not sure of a normal range for this system though

Ive got a D810. They arnt suppost to be off at all. Now they are suppost to run at different speeds, thats what you are thinking.

HD temps are fine. that 90 id be worried about. shouldnt be higher than 70.

yeh, it changes speed just fine, and more in line with loads too.

temps are also down since I reloaded the bios.

so 70's about the max for the cpu? anything on the HD?

also if it has an nvidia chipset, some of them are defective and dell released an bios update that forced the fans to run all the time at a higher speed.
