11/9/2008 7:52:13 PM
wholesale prices go upthus retail prices go up...it's quite simple really
11/9/2008 8:19:14 PM
^considering that the corner store near my girlfriend's place in wicker park (another chi n'hood) sells the exact same product for $0.75... not really
11/9/2008 8:43:20 PM
Convenience stores have a bigger markup than grocery stores or stores like Sams Just buy your m and ms elsewhere
11/9/2008 8:45:11 PM
the corner stores should be MORE expensive than 7/11, or at least equalregardless, suppose 7/11 are more expensive, but 40% more expensive?it's just blind gouging, period.
11/9/2008 8:46:36 PM
uh, i work for a vending company, homeslice. i know how much wholesale is and i know what the typical mark-up is
11/9/2008 8:49:00 PM
ok, homeslice, so tell me why one store would sell it at $1.09 and the other would sell it at $0.75edit: $1.10 for a candy bar! really!?![Edited on November 9, 2008 at 9:00 PM. Reason : .]

because one is financially sound and the other one isn't
11/9/2008 9:01:11 PM
ok. the corner store is more financially sound than 7/11 and therefore the solution is to charge 40% more for items. most 7/11s are also farther away than the corner stores, unless you live right next to it, of course.corner stores exist BECAUSE they are closer than 7/11s, so that's why to me it doesn't make sense that I can get stuff cheaper there.
11/9/2008 9:03:32 PM
11/9/2008 9:06:05 PM
that might absolutely be the caseI expect my corner store guy to fuck me overI do view 7/11s as closer to grocery stores than my guy a block awaythough, that's why it pisses me off, because I wouldn't expect a grocery store to charge $1.10 for candy sooner than my guy on the corner. what's next, milk? bread? etc[Edited on November 9, 2008 at 9:09 PM.
