we need a pet sitter who can feed our 5 cats while we're running back and forth between my family and my husband's family during christmas.
the days would probably just be december 25th and 26th. the cats can be fed once a day, though they're used to twice a day. we're taking the dog with us. all the other critters in the house won't require anything while we're gone.
we'd prefer someone we're already acquainted with, or a professional service that we can trust. i know craigslist has a ton of "pet sitter" ads, but i was hoping someone on here could recommend one they've dealt with.
we're located in durham. no, you will not get shot. 11/9/2008 10:21:57 PM |

I get creeped out just thinking about thinking about setting foot in your home.

^^^all the non-mammals are confined to the back bedroom
and we aren't going to board our cats. at least 3 of them would be totally traumatized by being left in a strange place. (no, i'm not over-exaggerating.)

are you in North or South Durham?
I live in Roxboro, so North Durham is a 35 minute drive from me, but I'd be willing to help out 11/16/2008 1:45:24 PM |

As you mentioned, boarding cats should be outlawed. Cats weren't meant to be shoved in a cage with a litter box and water bowl for weeks on end. I'm afraid I don't know any sitters who operate in that area, but good luck! 11/17/2008 3:46:49 PM |

I'll probably be at my parents' in Durham for Christmas, so I might be able to do this if you haven't found someone already.
I did a lot of pet sitting way back when I was in high school, I could probably get references for you from old neighbors, lol.

Why don't you have an auto-feeder? Just dump in enough food for a couple of days until you come back. Cats are so self-sufficient in every other aspect. 11/17/2008 7:35:44 PM |

^2 or 3 cats are gluttons that will eat until they puke, then eat again. 11/17/2008 7:43:48 PM |

We also need a pet-sitter for our two dogs, a lab and a beaglemix. We'd rather them stay at home over the holidays while everyone's away, but we need a dependable, trustworthy and CREDIBLE petsitter. It would be some good extra holiday money for presents and whatnot.
Please let me know if you're interested by sending a pm. Also, send a potential quote for three visits (morning, noon, night) for 5 days. 11/20/2008 2:13:53 PM |
