I just found out that I may have to take this ... has anyone taken it? I'm looking for any info bc I know nothing about it

i took the praxis and passed with flying colors. if you wanna be a teacher in nc you need to take it. for me it was like a big old SAT test for college students...oh, and it had a writing portion if i recall, so that's a little different from the standard SAT test. but other than that, pretty similar.

I took the marketing one. thought it was pretty dumb. A friend of mine who had taught marketing the past two years took it the same day and also thought it was stupid.

Its one of those things that they think will help you, but its a waste of a saturday morning and money.

I took the Praxis II for teachers. It lasted forever but wasn't too hard. It had a multiple choice section and a few essays that required me to plan lessons or units for specific standards or themes.

If you can't pass the Praxis you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an educational environment.

i took the praxis 2 for science. i got a 199 out of 200 for the science content, and then somewhere in the 90th percentile for pedagogy.

I didn't even know the format of the test until I walked into the room that day.

I took the middle grades SS one as I came in lateral entry to teaching. If you aren't an idiot you can pass. Usually the passing score is like 150 out of 200, with the scale only going from 100-200. Each one is different, but they're all easy enough.

my advice is don't be a teacher, it sucks, the kids are disrespectful, the pay sucks and the work is either boring or frustrating.

teaching is a GREAT career
the kids are wonderful and the rewards have been priceless
the pay is crappy, obviously, benefits are decent
the work has not been boring or frustrating, it's been challenging and made me think outside the box so to speak
and i love it
