I'm in the library and two tour groups have passed me. Upon entering the new wing both tour guides stated that NC State's library is the 2nd largest library in the US under the library of congress. They have been saying this since i took the tour in 2004. This can't be true. I have tried to find lists based upon volume and NC State always comes in around 60.

Duke and Carolina are numbers 30 and 31. What am i missing here? Do they mean the largest network of libraries in the US? WHY ARE THEY LYING TO EVERYONE!!!!

Duke and UNC have "larger" libraries but they're broken up into tons of buildings.

I was told that with the ability to get books that are at Duke and UNC and not here we are the 2nd largest library in the US. So State + Duke + UNC = 2nd largest.

So all the tour guides played telephone, and it turned from "Duke-Chapel Hill, and State combined makes the 4th largest library in the US" to "State has the 2nd largest library in the US."
