I recently re-installed Windows XP home edition and everything is working great, except for the fact that my computer doesn't recognize my sound card anymore. Whenever I try to play a sound file I get this message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly."
I have tried downloading drivers from the Dell website (I have an Inspiron E1505 notebook). In my Device Manager it says I have "Legacy Drivers" but I can't find anywhere to download them. And I ran Belarc Advisor and it said it didn't recognize a multimedia device.
any suggestions?? help please!! 11/17/2008 10:32:54 PM |

sounds like you have the wrong drivers.
go to Dell's website again, login to your account, add the system using your system tag, and download the right drivers for your audio device and install. 11/18/2008 2:16:50 AM |
