"Former University of Virginia lacrosse player and Baldwin native Will Barrow
(VirginiaSports.com Photo)

Will Barrow, the former Baldwin Senior High School football and lacrosse standout who starred later for the University of Virginia lacrosse team, has died in Charlottesville, Va., his family said. He was 22.

Barrow was an important part of Virginia's 2006 team that won the national championship. Appearing in every game at midfielder, he had seven goals and two assists. After a senior campaign in which he captained the Virginia squad that reached the Final Four, Barrow was selected 11th overall in the Major League Lacrosse draft by the Chicago Machine. He scored three goals in five games.

As a junior at Baldwin, Barrow was the recipient of the Dragon Award, given annually to Nassau County's most outstanding wide receiver. He was a three-year starter on the football team and set a school record with 22 career interceptions. Barrow was MVP of the 2004 Outback Steakhouse Empire Challenge, an all-star football game between New York City and Long Island schools. In lacrosse, Barrow scored 40 goals as a senior and was an honorable mention All-American.

Barrow was thrust into the spotlight as a fixture on Virginia's team and earned a reputation as one of the nation's fastest and most athletic defensive midfielders. Before his senior year, Barrow was named All-American and preseason first-team All-ACC by Face-Off Yearbook, a publication that ranks college players."

Just had a friend recently commit suicide...had a shit-ton going for him too. I've come to the realization that a lot of times when this stuff happens there's got to be a chemical imbalance in the head.
