By dude, I mean himself.
Quote : | "New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress suffered an accidental gunshot wound Friday night in a club, according to multiple sources.
Details of the incident weren't immediately available, but according to a source the wound was not considered life-threatening.
Fox Sports.com reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital.
Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, was not at team meetings and did not attend the team's Saturday walkthrough.
The Giants organization was not commenting on the story.
In September, Burress was suspended for a game and fined for a violation of team rules, reportedly failing to appear at a team meeting and being unavailable by phone. At the time, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that Burress was tending to urgent family matters.
Burress signed a five-year, $35 million contract this fall after helping the Giants to a Super Bowl championship last season." |

This guy is an idiot. Instead of staying home and nursing his own injuries, he goes out and shoots himself. The Giants haven't needed him to win games but if they dont make it to the SuperBowl, it'll be because of this guy. 11/29/2008 12:06:06 PM |

The Giants could clear $23 million off their payroll if they cut or trade Burress after the season. Knowing Burress' track record, they were careful not to include too much guaranteed money in the deal, which is proving to be a savvy move. " |

^ Indeed, a VERY smart move by the Giants. Plax had been in trouble before. The Giants shut up him and that pile of human garbage Rosenhaus begging for more money in the offseason, while at the same time limiting their exposure to negatives when(if) Cheddar Plax pulled this idiocy. Plus, if they can get creative with the numbers, they might be able to dump Plax while clearing future cap space in the form of unattained bonuses. I hate the Giants, but credit where credit is due. 12/2/2008 3:20:26 PM |

The second charge against PB is pretty much going to force him to admit that he had the weapon. He will have to convince the jury that he wasn't planning on shooting anyone with it. 12/2/2008 8:23:21 PM |

Plax got robbed earlier this season...his teammate Steve Smith got robbed recently...by the driver who took him to his house...I think his lawyers can convince the jury that he had some reason to carry it, although anyone who knows firearms knows not to trust a Glock with a round in the chamber without a holster...cause they don't have traditional safeties 12/2/2008 8:33:53 PM |

being robbed is a good reason to have a gun... at home.
but i can think of a better reason not to carry one out in public: it's against the law. but sadly, you are probably right and he will get off with a slap on the wrist.

I seriously doubt it. Carrying a concealed weapon is 3.5 years mandatory. It isn't a misdemeanor anymore....

You know it is legal to conceal carry in NYC, right?
However, it is illegal to carry an unlicensed gun, enter a public place, shoot yourself, and then go to the hospital and lie about it. It's the unlicensed thing that gets him. It doesn't matter if he's been robbed, haha what a joke. You really think that's a defense? 12/2/2008 9:22:30 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148446 Posts user info edit post |
you have too much faith in the judicial system
and its not legal to carry concealed anywhere without a CCP, which are especially hard to get in NYC...let alone that even if you have a CCP you cant go into a place that primarily serves alcohol
steve smith got robbed for about $250,000 of jewelry...his lawyer will get him out of this with a bunch of community service and classes teaching kids and shit 12/2/2008 9:28:26 PM |

I realize that about the CCP... but it's gonna be damn tough for any attorney to prove he was within his rights to carry an unlicensed gun into a club... 12/2/2008 9:34:20 PM |

i just think they'll be able to plea it down...say how much he gives back to the community (i'm sureh he does league and nyg mandated stuff sometimes), etc...money talks and most importantly like i said, he didnt hurt anyone else or make any tax free money or anything...i could be wrong but i dont see him doing a day of time 12/2/2008 9:36:28 PM |

I probably have too much faith, yes, but I think they're pretty tough on this and have been for many years. I don't know too much about their laws, but my brother has a CCP and must unload and lock his pistola in a hard case and put it in the trunk when he goes through NYC, cause that's the law. I think they are pretty damn stringent. 12/2/2008 9:43:38 PM |

He shouldn't do jailtime. He's not dangerous, it would be a waste of taxpayers money to lock him up for 3 years. Maybe for a few months, I'm sure that would suck enough. Then I hope the Panthers sign him, moose is getting old, Steve Smith needs a good #2 for next year. 12/3/2008 8:23:59 PM |

oj killed a couple people...ray lewis testified to cover up his boys killing 2 people, and he only got a quarter million dollar fine...pacman jones played a part in multiple people getting their asses beat, people getting shot, including somebody being put into a coma...he has done no jail time
i dont see why some of yall think plax will do time for being an idiot...he didnt hurt anyone but himself...Mike Vick didnt hurt any people, but his jailtime was mostly for making tax free money via gambling...the bulk of his sentence was for that, not the actual dogfighting...so what did plax do that was so bad and not just stupid? he only hurt himself, he didnt steal anything, he didnt cheat on his taxes, he didnt coverup murders...he was just dumb as a brick when it came to how he handled his firearm 12/4/2008 12:48:26 PM |
