SEC is pretty average this year. Not it's usual great, dominating self.

Which is good, because at a time earlier this year you could have legitimately argued the ACC this year as the worst BCS conference ever... probably still could.

^ yes. stop and think about it for a second...

And I don't mean it is the worst BCS conference, I just meant THIS season, the collection of teams could be the worst in the history of the BCS. Maybe 2nd to some of the early 2000ish big east when they lost their teams.

Tennessee beat Georgetown in bball, therefore the Big East is pretty average this year. Not it's usual great, dominating self.

^ don't be an idiot... the SEC is NOT the best conference in the country this year. Anyone capable of being objective shares that opinion. The Big XII is.

The SEC is still good, but not as good as in recent years...

Put all the numbers out you want, middle of this season, which is what I said, the conference was terrible. We've barely had teams in the top 25 at times this season. The ACC was fucking awful this year. The QB play might be the worst in the country, and the talent is there but it is all very young.

Some teams are down, LSU and Tennessee, and somewhat Georgia, but then some that usually suck have improved, Vandy and Ole Miss, and Alabama has made huge strides.

I see a lot of horrible horrible defenses in the Big 12. Just purely going by record the Big 12 has had a better year, but I still have no doubt that that SEC is the harder conference

So because the ACC has the most parity, it is awful?

Look because FSU or Va Tech didn't go 12-0 doesn't mean the conference is down.

Is it too much to ask to have two ranked teams play in an ACC CG?

Parity?

GT is our best team, I think, and they beat Gardner Webb 10-7.

What are our big OCC wins? Until today(rivalry games) it was nothing.

Just look at the teams, everyone beat up on each other but the play on the field is young, the QBs are the worst in the country collectively, the defenses are average.. There is a great chance that we can finish the year with NO teams ranked in the top 25. Find a time that a major conference ever had that happen.

And the bowl season could change all that, we have plenty of chances to prove otherwise. I'll be the first to be happy, but just watching tons of games, I think the ACC was pitiful this year top to bottom.

No team in the ACC was absolutely stellar this year. But nearly every team has been around or slightly above average... just look at how many teams are bowl eligible.

The ACC has no outstanding teams this year. But we've also got very few bad teams (even Duke had a better season than normal). That doesn't make the conference "fucking awful" by any means.

Of course, we're not anywhere near the play of much of the SEC or the Big 12, but we rarely ever are.

It makes it an average conference who in all likelihood will lose it's 9th or 10th straight BCS game...

Parity dumbass.

Parity (sports) refers to engineering an equal playing field in which all teams can compete, regardless of their economic circumstances

Because everyone was equally bad and beat up on each other + wins over 1AA teams we have a ton of bowl eligible teams. That doesn't make us good, not to mention being bowl eligible is a joke of a way to determine how good a team is, there are 500 bowls.

Our conferences biggest wins might be the UNC wins over Big East teams, and UNC is not a good team.

There is no way to prove this, since for the last 2 months everyone has just beaten up on each other inside the ACC. But our OCC schedule was a joke, we have no OCC wins that make me think otherwise, the voters clearly don't think highly of the league and although the voters can be worthless at times I still put some weight to it.

Spell check changed it on me, but a good way to back up your argument is to attack someone's grammar.

Probably so, but we will likely win most of the rest of our bowls, especially the ones near the lower half of the conference.

That's what happens when you've got a deep conference.

That had nothing to do with grammar. By all appearances, you had no idea what the word "parity" meant.

Yeah just typed fast. If you read the context of what I wrote after you clearly see that I was attacking the idea that everyone across the ACC was equal, the definition of the word. If I had gone on to talk about some satirical performance, then yeah, you might have had a point there.

Too Cincinatti yeah right. Anybody who doesn't thing the Big Least is the worst BCS conference is fucking blind. VT is not a flashy team but they win. The Big Least is terrible, and Cincy isn't anything special.

Cincy is pretty good... They could win. They played OU about as well as anyone has in Norman this year...

Until the ACC wins a BCS game, and they've played some pretty weak teams, you can't make them a favorite IMO...

And the Big East is the worst BCS conference THIS YEAR. Clearly. Making up for it by being one of the best bball conferences ever this year...

I don't think it's that hard to argue. They are a good team and will be ranked the highest in the conference. The G-W game is totally irrelevant since they had like a 4th string QB in that game.

VTech is a VERY average team and I'm just praying that UMd wins today. If it's FSU-VTech the conference won't be embarrassed on national TV next weekend with 20,000 people in the stands...

If you think the ACC is the worst BCS conference you're an idiot. Having 9-10 solid teams is better than 1-2 awesome teams in a 10-12 team conference

What is intra-conference parity going to tell you? Certainly not that conference A is better than conference B.

never have... that shows who is better for that one particular day, but not necessarily the better team. For example, last year in the NFL... Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, but if you had to pick one team to win a random game during the year, I bet you would have picked the Patriots.

So yes, VT beat GT. They were 3 points better that one day. That could be due to a lot of things. I dont particularly remember the game. But overall at this very moment, I would take GT over VT

Or another example, Ole Miss beat Florida...I would shit in my mouth before I agreed with anyone that Ole Miss is the better team

What does Alabama's SoS have to do with the ACC's OC scheduling for this year?

And statistics are great, but in college football there isn't enough cross conference play between the bigger teams to get the data to be accurate enough for me to buy into a lot of the website rankings. Until more teams play more important OC games, all we can do is watch the games and judge for ourselves.

Maybe you have watched 4 sec games, that is fine. Nobody has really said or posted anything to make me not think that the ACC across the board is down this year. If you watched some of the games, there was just some bad football. Mostly it has to do with all the teams being so young, and the QBs bad/inexperienced. The bowl games will hopefully prove it wrong, I hope we go 6-2 or 7-1, win a BCS game for once. But we'll see in a few weeks, unlike most people on here I have no problem admitting if I was wrong, but if the ACC lays an egg in the bowl games ...
