If you look at the ACC compared to all other conferences, we have the fewest teams (2) not bowl eligible. Yes the Big-12 and SEC have the most dominate teams at the top, but top to bottom who is more competitive than the ACC? Those same 2 teams (Duek and UVA) are the only teams not go at least .500 in conference play this season, and it is a strong argument that it is harder to become the conference champion than in any other of the majors.

The ACC is clearly the deepest conference this year, if that's what you're saying.

Does no mean you agree that no other conference is as competitive or does no mean you don't agree?

no and this is why.

the acc is the deepest yes, but there is an easy rebuttal to your ascertation. One could definitely say OK, TX, TT, AL, or FL could all walk into the ACC and go 9-0 no problem. so you can't say it would be harder in the ACC because you can absolutely argue that any of those 5 schools are unquestionably better than anyone in the ACC

I disagree with the initial conjecture. The inherent flaw in your argument is the confusion of parity with competitiveness. Mathematically, ACC teams have a lower standard deviation of competitive level, inasmuch as they are equal to each other. However, their bell curve falls tragically short of the other Big 6 conferences, save for possibly the Big East.

I also apologize for being harsh in my opening post. I am growing rather tired of the best conference threads that have popped up for football season. Personally, I like arguing basketball.

The ACC is still the strongest overall conference. It's not got amazing teams at the top, but every team is at least pretty good.

with Russell Wilson's emergence, i've noticed that its not that the ACC has REALLY good defenses as much as it is that the ACC has REALLY, REALLY shitty quarterbacks. Without a good QB, your team is not going to be very good, or look very good.

^^ um ... i mean i guess ? 6 of the top 11 SOS belong to ACC schools and we still have 10 bowl eligible schools ....

to say they aren't competitive is poop, but the best teams from other conferences would still be the best teams in the ACC

the fairest way to say it is that we have alot of good to very good teams, but no elite teams. Now would you rate a conference on having elite teams, or having a multitude of good teams?
