Finally went and picked up my brand new 2008 G8 GT. The thing is absolutely amazing in every aspect. I absolutely love this car and am totally pleased with my purchase. Enough talk here are the pics...

It takes a little more than a day to say you're actually pleased with the car.. that's like saying you're totally happy with a marriage on the honeymoon lol

Well if you're not happy on "the honeymoon" when will you be?

Nice choice, looks good! What are the HP/Torque specs on those? Is it an LSx engine, or a version of the newer 5.3?

Agreed. First thing I did was remove the one on the front of my car. And I play on removing the Infiniti of Lake Norman rear plate b/c that's just silly. A nice shiny NCSU one will take its place

nah that was when I was messing around with it seeing how I could possibly run some wires and I forgot to snap it back in.

I can see why you would think that though, it is a gm after all

A lot of the new sedans look alike.

I'd better watch what I say though or the BMW fanbois here will pull their collective knives on me.

personally I didn't want a manual since this is going to be my dd and I will be in plenty of bumper to bumper traffic with it now that I am entering the workforce and the sweet raleigh commute.

Got my STi the same way.

Sadly I will be paying for my G8GT for quite a long time. skywalkr Checkout http://www.g8board.com for mods and other info. Pretty helpful group. Just ordered Corsa mufflers for mine today.

yep graduation gift

I sure won't deny the fact that I am lucky as hell to be getting such a nice gift from my parents.

^ I will definitely check them out...I am on LS1tech (have been for almost 4 years now) and they have a G8 section...not as active as that board of course but people on that site are extremely knowledgeable about cars

Meh, I got some money when I graduated high school to buy a new car. I bought another used car with about 1/3rd the money, put the rest in mutual funds. Fast forward almost a decade, the mutual funds are still where they were, but I know how to fix cars... This is why presents like a new car are nice, because a lot of people could never justify buying one for themselves, me included.

true. my parents helped pay for about half of my ram. only reason i would have gotten it new. i really doubt i'll ever buy another new car. unless it's something really awesome.

yeah I would have definitely rather bought a used car and kept the rest of the money but my dad said that wasnt how it works...he wanted me to have a new car of my own, something nice, with a warranty, and something that if I take care of it will easily last the next 10 years of my life. Its not like you are going to say no in a situation like that

haha, my dad says helping me buy a new truck was one of the worst mistakes he's make because i "ruined" it. guess i can't blame him, it's been sitting on jackstands for like the past 3-4 years.

Are those intake slots on the hood FEREAL?

Also, this car looks like none of the other cars posted. Newsflash: All sedans have 4 wheels, 4 doors, head lights, tail lights and windows. Unless it's a chinese car, I promise you it's not a "blantant rip off of" or a "copycat" or a "slightly different" version of anything you think you see.

if those hood scoops werent, that is probably the first thing that i would be changing

of course, there could be negative pressure there and no effect of opening them up

gm? 10 years? does not compute!

do those 'scoops' actually vent anything? or is it more of a cosmetic thing?

They actually vent.

G8 is a nice car driving the proper wheels.

my family has had a few pontiacs over the years, and they've proved to be very reliable. granted they were ~5 years old when my dad bought them, I have no idea how the new ones are. All of ours had over 100K and were still running fine. it is a p.o.n.t.i.a.c. though.

That is basically the case, negative pressure zone.
