Roddy White leading the NFL in receiving yards in week 15 means we can go ahead and call Matt Ryan the 2008 ROY right now.

If the Colts keep winning and the Cardinals lose a few of their last games, I would give the MVP to Peyton. He's overcome a lot this year and is starting to put up pretty good numbers.

^ummm no, there has been nothing spectacular about Manning's performance this season, whereas on the other hand Kurt Warner leading the Cardinals to their first division title in like 30 years is pretty spectacular (granted their division sucks ass but so what).

This is not a small thing. Everytime the Cardinals play someone half decent, they lose. With the exception of Dallas and Miami, neither of whom are even probables for making the playoffs, every legitimate playoff team they have played, they lost to.

Now, the Colt's schedule wasn't much better, but they have a better record and they have already beaten the steelers and the ravens who are both playoff teams.

The Cardinals still haven't done well against good teams. And Peyton has come up HUGE in the big games (NE, Pitt, San Diego, and the comeback win against Houston) and has had a lot of setbacks this year (his injuries, lineman out, etc). I'm just saying that if he continues to finish strong and Warner kind of coasts in, I wouldn't be surprised to see Manning get a lot of votes.

Roddy White does not suck ass. He was good last year with Chris Redman and Joey Harrington throwing to him. He makes some spectacular catches and is big and physcial. Him and Ryan should make a great combo for years to come barring injury/free agency.

This year is pretty wide open...

The guy is only 80 yards behind Brees at this point. I don't care how bad the division is, this guy was left for dead at one point, wasn't even the starter when this year began. He has once again come out of nowhere and been the fantasy football savior for people. He'll get some votes from people who like the story as well. Common, it is Arizona.. you make them relevant you've done something special.

OPOY: Michael Turner. Ok he probably won't win, but 14 tds, on pace for 1500+ yards.. just tossing the name in there. AP prob gets it though.

DPOY: Albert Haynesworth - Tenn (Jenkins or Pol Runner Up) Actually I think whichever defense finishes the strongest will be the guy that gets this. But if Haynesworth doesn't win I'll stomp on someone's head.

ROY: Matt Ryan, ATL - No question here. And if Ryan doesn't play the way he does you can make a real strong argument for Flacco too. Stats aren't great but he has Balt winning.

OROY: Chris Johnson, Tenn - Great season, especially since I, and many "experts" thought this was one of the worst picks in the draft last year. I'm glad I was wrong.

DROY: Jared Mayo, NE - Defense is so old, just think what would have happened if they didn't have this pick last year.

COY : Smith - Atlanta (Fisher runner up)

This sounds like the write-up for comeback player of the year.

Forget about the story line. And give me a break with the fantasy football angle. MVP goes to the best player, not the most surprisingly great player. Warner is on the short list, but not for the reasons you mentioned.

John Fox should garner some consideration for COY if the Panthers win out and get 1st place in the NFC.

How is the reason of being the QB that put Arizona into the playoffs not the reason to be MVP?

Please explain to me how that right there alone isn't as good a reason as any to be MVP. How about the reason of being only 80 yards behind Brees..I say to you "there was a QB that has (projected) close to 5000 yards passing, 30+ tds and managed to get Arizona into the playoffs."

I agree he has done great, but the thing I always wonder is how much of it is him, and how much was what Parcells has done/doing behind the scenes. I think that the perception that this was his work and not all Sparano will hurt him which is why I predict Smith.

Warner's play has been tailing off quite a bit over the last few weeks. He's got, what, 5 interceptions in the last 3 games?

The Cards are 8-5 in the crappiest division in football, except for maybe the AFC West. They could easily finish 8-8 with their remaining schedule. He has been good this year, but not spectacular, especially down the stretch. He should rightfully be a candidate for OPOY, but he would be one of the least-deserving MVPs in recent memory. If he wins, it'll be due to lack of competition because there are no clear MVP frontrunners this year like there have been in years past.

The point of the thread isn't weather or not someone deserves the award or if they are the best MVP in recent memory. It is predict the winners, and thinking like a voter I predict he wins. You haven't given a better MVP option.. several people in the thread agree.

He isn't getting much help from the defense either.

Forte will be in the mix

He passed HOF Gale Sayers total yards by a rookie and that speaks volumes. I say it will be between Forte and C.J. depending on the playoffs. He is an every-down back that is starting to get some well deserved respect. Ryan is doing good but I feel that if the Falcons dont get the Wild Card, he wont win...

good fucking grief, all this crap about "oh my god, he got ARIZONA into the playoffs" is total shit.

You swap Arizona with ANY team in the NFC East or South and that team wins the division just as easily or even moreso.

It's not an achievement to win a division where the other teams are 3 of the worst 4 in the conference.

The thing is, the AP doesn't have a ROY award, they simply vote on OROY & DROY. The ROY is some 2nd rate award called the Diet Pepsi ROY award (which, for the record, has coincided with the AP OROY winner each of the last 4 years).

Harrison has 22 more tackles, 5 more forced fumbles, and 1 more interception than Ware. Ware's only statistical superiority over Harrison is sacks, and that is by one.

Not sure why Hanyeworth would get many votes at all. Harrison has 42 more tackles, 6.5 more sacks, 4 more forced fumbles, and 1 more interception than him.

Yep. If we are judging by value to a defense, there is no question that Haynesworth is the DPOY. The dude is simply a beast in the middle, the likes of which we haven't seen since Kris Jenkins before his injury problems or Warren Sapp in his prime.

Still Warner as the front runner?

I'm not sure. It's hard to argue against Adrian Peterson (If the Vikings make the playoffs), Peyton Manning (on hell of a turnaround this season. Despite all of the injuries this season to the Colts, he has basically held them together.) or Big Ben Rothewiujejeoiburger (The Steelers have had one of the toughest schedules the NFL has ever seen, and when the regular season is over with, they could have the leagues best record.)

So, Warner, Brees, Portis, Manning, Peterson or Big Ben?

Roflberger wasn't a pro-bowler. He wasn't even an alternate. He is not in the MVP discussion. The stats just aren't there.

Brees has played himself out of contention over the last few weeks. Warner has similarly faded down the stretch.

Peyton Manning and Peterson are the front-runners I guess, along with Warner. Nobody is running away with it, that's for sure.

IMHO this is the year Peyton Manning has deserved most VALUABLE player the most. That team has a losing record with a lesser QB.
