it's a completely different genre

that's like listening to a garth brooks album and saying you can't stand the country music aspect. did you not know what you were getting with this cd?

Glad I got this for free.

Easily one of the worst hip-hop (if you want to call it that) albums of all time.

Fucking abomination.

this cd really isn't that bad.

"say you will" "welcome to heartbreak" "heartless" "amazing" and "bad news" are all good songs. which is about as many as you'll find on most commercial albums anymore.

See you in my nightmares (ft lil wayne) is by far the best track. Followed by Love Lockdown, Heartless, Welcome to Heartbreak, Amazing. I enjoy the auto tune in small doses...every song though? Come on now, that's never been Kayne's style.

i like the album a lot

"Auto-tuning" has been around for a while (see britney spears, christian aguilera, etc), but it hasn't been embraced until recently. I can't tell if Kanye was doing it as a joke, or if he thinks there is actual musical quality to it. In any case, it's a disgrace to our society and music that so many artists are relying on this now. It's a cheap gimmick to hide laziness and lack of talent.

i don't think people like mjrobson have noticed, but this isn't a rap album.. so i don't really think it should be judged based on how few "raps" there are

but this isn't really a hiphop album...and he's expressedly made note of that

a read a few reviews of the album and a lot of people mentioned the interesting juxtaposition he's put together projecting so much human emotion in the lyrics/words while simultaneously broadcasting them through such a cold and non-humanlike medium of the robot sounding autotune...it's an interesting creation of separation between the subject and delivery that makes the album somewhat interesting as a full listen...i don't have it on repeat by any means, but i enjoy it as an entire album, versus individual songs

i think robocop, for everyone that says it's garbage, it's a hilarious song, and he loves being all fucking futuristic and shit, so it works, even if it might sound overproduced.

new opinion alert!!!!

^^ i think the album totally works for him but you have to kind of take it in context of kanye west.

i don't think he was trying to put out something that was fast cheap and easy

see: kanye west's ego

I love College Dropout because it was pretty fresh and innovative as far as hip-hop goes. It paved the way for some new really sick acts.

But then Late Registration and Graduation was more of the same shit. The shtick got boring.

With this album, he has certainly alienated some fans, and he's probably not going to retain some folks who loved Late Registration, but he's pretty much reinvented the wheel again.

For the first time since College Dropout, Kanye has given us something new. So in my opinion, he's actually relevant again.

Like I said, it won't jive with every body.

I like it so far, very daring, I could see people that just like hip hop hating it as its definitely different, almost a pop album, the music reminds me a lot of Giorgio Moroder's stuff from the early 80s, and Coldest Winter could be a Shiny Toy Guns song

I normally can't get into anything that wasn't recorded before 1990, but the two songs he did on SNL last night were actually pretty good, especially the second one. He's still a jackass, though.

I'm actually the opposite of that. After hearing "Love Lockdown" a few months ago, I thought this cd would be the biggest piece of shit ever. Then when the first cut of Robocop was out, I was convinced. But given Kanye's track record of putting out solid albums (and producing a lot of great tracks), I gave the whole album a listen.

It's really an enjoyable album, but I think people are more inclined to just give it one listen and say it sucks as opposed to letting it grow on them, and I can certainly understand that. Its easy to hate on Kanye... hell, I can't stand him as a person, but again, the man makes quality music. For me, I liked a couple tracks at first, but I would just let the whole damn thing play and it's grown on me.

I enjoy the fact that the worst song features Lil Wayne, who's doing his damnedest to become a worse rapper than Bizzare.

I really dont like this CD.

Its pretty much Kanye's version on the robot voice -- too bad it began like two years ago, and it has become so played out.

Which is really disappointing since kanye's whole appeal is that he does things differently...so it was lame for him to do the industry standard two years late. Blah

Snoop went autotune R&B first. T-pain did more pop but Snoop took that leap with the autotune R&B with Sexual Eruption. That sucked too.....

Zapp (Roger Troutman) did this first. See "More Bounce To The Ounce" or "Computer Love".

Anyway, I listened to it. It had a couple high points but I don't like it. With or without the auto-tuning. With or without Kanye's name on the cover. Just didn't do it for me.

Interesting to see how both Kanye and Common changed up their albums this year. I think Universal Mind Control is much better but I've always been a huge Common fan.
