this should make us feel good about getting favors.

11/14/08 vs. Winston-Salem State W, 92-47
11/22/08 at Mercer W, 82-76 (ot)
11/25/08 vs. Arkansas - Pine Bluff W, 74-47
11/28/08 vs. Jacksonville W, 79-76
12/03/08 vs. Penn State L, 85-83
12/06/08 vs. Vanderbilt W, 63-51
12/14/08 vs. Illinois-Chicago L, 66-60

some good quotes from tech fans after the loss to I-C today:

Quote :
"Call it a "lack of preparation" loss or "poor coaching" or whatever. There is little excitement in the building formerly known as the "thrillerdome". The way we are set up now (with the empty gold seats for all non-conference games), it looks like all GT is doing is providing good seats for fans of other ACC teams when they come to town to watch their teams get a "W". We have become the "Washington Generals" of the ACC."

Quote :
"Sick of it. Sick of losing in the last minute to inferior talent. Sick of turning the ball over. Sick of missing free throws at crucial points. Sick of looking like we have no idea what were doing."

Quote :
"Are any of you really surprised at today's outcome?"

Quote :
"This is just a typical Paul Hewitt Georgia Tech basketball team."

Paul Hewitt is still living off that fluke run in 2004... he is a TERRIBLE in game coach.

For some reason he can recruit like hell though...

** As far as Favors, his top 3 schools were basically all in the shitter either last year or right now... If Hewitt gets canned, we might be sitting pretty...

He had some talent on that champ team. Luke Schenscher! I seem to remember that his bench was deep as hell

^^Hewitt took over in 2000, so wouldn't those be all his recruits?

I remember that team, they got robbed in the ACCT final game against UNC.

^^ In the 2004 ACC Tournament Georgia Tech lost to Duke in the semifinals who lost to Maryland in the finals to give the Terps their third title. That was the year of the big meltdown against Maryland in the semifinals in which we lost 85-82. We were the #2 seed that year.

Now the following year GT played Duke in the finals and lost 64-69.

^didnt' we have like a 20 point halftime lead in that game? that shit still makes me sick.

But related to GT, we beat that final 4 GT team twice that season IIRC. 2 great games. I stood in line for like 3 hours for tickets to that game at State when you still had to show up at the RBC center to get tickets instead of doing it online. Those were the days...when the students that gave a shit actually got good seats.

for someone who has been around ~6 years that comment made you look like a complete idiot. Please do some research before the next time you post in sports talk.(or at least someone who watches sports pertaining to the ACC before you post) Or you can continue to let your GF post and look like a complete douche.

Well they did implement a new system this year rewarding those who come to more games....

^i remember back when they didnt have rules and we would line up on a friday night and do shifts for tix being given out on a monday. We would always get sideline seats. Never a problem, never a bumrush for a place in line til the Univ stepped in. Then all of a sudden the univ stepped in a people who had never been to a game in their life were getting quality seats.

maybe, but i don't think this would be near as much of a factor as some may think. most schools think that if they hire a new, better coach the recruits would only be more likely to choose them than before when they had a coach that was losing.

Maybe we should make fake Scout profiles and parade around as disgruntled GT fans, so that Favors will potentially read how bad the fans are, and how bad of a coach Hewitt is.

I still don't think that makes it more likely for you to get a good seat...just more likely to get you in the game. But yeah at least its a step in the right direction.

i think it has an effect on seating...they're trying to make sure that people who come to early season games get lower level seats for ACC play.

so far i've been to every game and had AT WORST third row, half court seats.

the system works

Is this true? I would think the relationship with the coach would be one of the most important factors in choosing a school.

Never been impressed with Hewitt. It wasn't the fact that Herb owned him...it was the fact that we played the same type of game (offense and defense) against them every time...and it was the same result every game. He never adjusted. It baffled me. You could almost always go to a GT/State game and be guaranteed a 10-point win by the Pack.

The Final Four run was made off of pure talent...and he's recruited well enough to remain somewhat competitive in the ACC over the years. But as a coach...he pretty much blows.

Thank god UVA won. GT only had 6 students in their student section for that game. That's pathetic. This year I'm going to be an ABCGT fan. Anybody But Carolina or Georgia Tech. Of course I want GT to beat UNC when they play, but I really want Hewitt canned so that we can almost assuredly get Favors.

I don't really get this thread.

Is it in response to the Lowe thread trying to make it look like those who criticize him are crazy? Because I think it's pretty much a consensus that Hewitt should have been fired 1.5 years ago... he is a dreadful coach...
