Ok, the parking lot at my apt complex is a solid sheet of ice. Is it reasonable to assume that property mgt company should be responsible for making sure it is safe for residents to enter and leave the lot?
Both entrances are on a hill and it is only a matter of time before someone gets really hurt or property is seriously damaged.
I emailed yesterday to let them know of the situation and it looks like about 5lbs of sand was put out....totally pointless given the situation.

You e-mailed them, they obviously aren't going to do anything about it. I would move my car.

i, too, have lived in an apt on a hill--when there was ice, people parked at the bottom and walked up 12/16/2008 1:54:57 PM |

I would think that it's their responsibility to de-ice the parking lot. You can always call the city and ask their advice. If it is in fact the city's responsibility, then they should send out a salt truck.

don't mind Ernie. He's just one of TWW's trolls. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a delnacho alias.

A few years ago when it snowed heavily and iced over everywhere, they had closed the office, and were helping residents on Thistledown Dr. and in the driveways so they wouldn't get stuck. My tires were slick, and I was sliding like crazy. Luckily my homeboy that works in the office helped push me into the complex. WAS MADNESS. I think it IS their responsibility! 12/16/2008 6:18:11 PM |

wait, so the OP is located in an area where snow/ice is much more common than in most of NC? is that what I'm gathering?
if so, learn to deal with it like the rest of the peoples 12/17/2008 11:05:07 AM |

yea, i live in northern WA state
snow is common in the mountains
not so much in town though
and i can drive just fine in snow
it was a matter of my parking lot being a solid sheet of ice
the rest of the peoples are just dumb as the peoples in raleigh that freak out when there is 1/2" of snow and then wrap their cars around poles and shit 12/17/2008 12:20:08 PM |

So you're hoping that NC residents will be familiar with WA landlord/tenant and/or road law, as it pertains to a particular situation, in your state?

come on now ambrosia, you really need to troll?
it started with a generic question about apartment complexes, those do exist in raleigh, right? 12/17/2008 1:07:51 PM |

realistically, this thread doesn't convey what I believe you are attempting to ask....which is pretty unnecessary to boot.
