Fuck this being Casey's fault. I blame Fox and his offensive coordinator and their pussy ass "I never wanna pass" play calling. Grow a fucking pair and use that all-pro receiver you have. What's his name again? Oh, that's right. It's Steve Smith. I almost forgot considering you made him disappear after the first half. Way to fucking go you bitches. Biggest pussy play-calling I've seen in a long time. If I see one more god-damn play run off-tackle when it's 3rd and 6 I'm going to jump through the tv poltergeist style and beat the shit out of Fox with my bare hands.

did anyone else notice the false step that kasay took right before the snap. seemed like something like that could have messed up his rhythm pretty badly

that and the crazy ass wind

^^ I noticed that as well. Probably threw his timing off. Fox basically settled for a 50 yarder when they ran it up the middle on 3rd down. I don't care who the kicker is, you have to get closer in that situation, especially with a strong cross wind.

They should do a mock kick by having kasay line up, call a TO, then do they kick anyway just to get a preview of the wind.

To do that in this game, the 3rd down play should have been a pass to the edges and run out of bounds.

If he could avoid kicking off out of bounds, the Panthers would already have one Super Bowl ring.

True, since he let the Patriots offense march down the field and get into field goal range AFTER the kickoff.

They didn't have to do much marching after his kick, but your argument does hold water.

i knew i would see this thread. and for every time kasay has missed an important FG he has probably made 5 other clutch or game winning FGs. The superbowl kickoff sucked, yes, but he is not really a kickoff specialist. He is a great field goal kicker. And a kickoff blunder shouldn't count against his clutchness as the fg kicker for the entire panther's history.

This was a tough shot and there was something mistimed between him or the snapper as he seemed to get there kind of early and had to stutter-step to get the kick off right. the wind there was crazy and was coming in gusts (unpredictable) which will REALLY affect a kick that long. If the game wasn't that windy it was in, easy. If the kick was 5 yds shorter it was in easy...it didn't look wide until the very end. No way can I blame Kasay for this loss.

^^The kickoff definitely didn't help, but Vinateri kicked a 41-yarder to win it. That means the Patriots offense gained approximately 40 yards on the final drive. It's not that far, but the defense still had plenty of chances to stop them.

Most people seem to forget Kasay hit a 50-yard field goal in the Super Bowl to help start the panthers come back.

As if you can blame him alone for the loss. Its John Kasay, by the way and that was his second miss of the entire season after 26 attempts.

Quote :

Im guessing you are making a reference to the super bowl and this game... Im also guessing those are the only two panthers games you have watched in your lifetime if you somehow have the misguided perception that Kasay is a bad kicker or choke artist.

Hes 24/26 this season, and his only misses have been from 50 yards or further, both with high wind speeds being a factor.

In other words, John Kasay is clutch as tits.

It sucks that he missed the field goal. But from the replay, it looked like he did a pretty good job of hooking the football by adjusting for the wind. I have seen some of those difficult kicks completely miss everything.

^most definitely

even on the replay as the ball sailed left of the goal post i thought to myself "that was a really well placed kick"

what we nee to blame is how easy that fucking two point conversion was

FTW.

Seriously tho, the play calling on offense was way too conservative down the stretch. I know Jake has been shaky at best the last few games, but hell you have two AWESOME WRs in Muhammed (big & physical) and Smith (uber fast). They needed to get the ball, especially when the Giants D was stacking NINE in the box.

Then there's OT. The Panthers had the ball at or near midfield. 1st down. 3rd and 3. Two first downs or one big play from a game-winning FG. You HAVE to convert there. Find a way. The Giants O started to click in the 2nd half, so consider yourself lucky that they didn't win it on their 1st possession.

Kasay is awesome. It was a tough kick. Get over it.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I STRONGLY felt like we should have gone for it on 4th in 3 during OT. Given the sudden death nature of overtime and the momentum of the Giants running game thus far; I expected some shit like a 40 yard run by Ward or Manning putting his balls on to complete enough passes to put them in scoring range.

If the game was tied 10-10 than it would have been a different story. Given though the offense playmaking thus far i felt Fox's punting the ball was a greater liability than attempting the conversion. We were on the 50 yard line practicallly so it was not like we would have turned the ball over in the red zone.

Once again Fox's Over Conservatism fucks us it in the ass.

I would've liked to have been more aggressive once we got the 21-10 lead and the 28-20 lead, but blaming the loss on playcalling is ridiculous...if Kasay makes the FG, does Fox still get outcoached?

^^ true but we should NEVER have let Giants prance down teh field so many times to be put in that situation where we relied on Kasey kicking a 50 yard kick with a 20mph crosswind during 29degree night.

For fucks sake on the 2pt conversion the WR was standing in the endzone looking like Eli and him were playing warm up catch in the pre-game practice.

That's borderline crazy, even though I and a lot of other people thought the Giants were likely going to score on the next possession. There's no way any coach would risk giving up the ball at midfield in OT instead of pinning their opponent down inside the 20. Converting the 1st down might have won the game, but turning it over would mean that the Giants would only have 20-30 yards to drive for the game-winning FG.

Yeah, can't back you up on that one.

I was just shocked that the sideline lady actually said something useful for once when she noted the strong wind going toward the Panther bench. I fully expected that piece of information to be as worthless as most of the sideline information we get, see Fat Tony Saragoosa(Sp?) during the New England game. He is worse then Madden out there. Kudos to her for actually earning her paycheck for the game.

I dont blame our D-line... I blame our secondary (Gamble looked like he was playing two-hand football). Our D-line just got worn out, which happens when you play an entire game against a great super-bowl champion running game.

Our secondary was shit the entire game. Its been the weakest part of this team from game one of this season. Almost every pass play, the receiver that caught the ball was so open that there was not a panther defender within a 5 yard radius. Rather than a hard hitting aggresive secondary, we played like pussies and were content to push and hug the defender (GAMBLE) rather than hit them.

Dude, if you think Gamble is the biggest problem in our secondary, you're retarded. He's been the only consistent corner on our team. If you want to get pissed at someone, get pissed at Lucas. Get pissed at the pathetic pass-rush. Don't get pissed at Gamble.

I agree though ... the zone we were in last night gave up way too much underneath, yet we stuck with it for the most part. I hate Mike Trgovac sometimes.

I thought we should have done something more ballsy than run it up the gut to position ourselves for a 50 yarder with 50 seconds left in the game.
