Punchmonk wanted to get me a traditional Christmas sweater with a giant snowman on it or something and we would wear our Christmas sweaters together every year. I was all like yikes. She ended up getting a cute Peace on Earth sweater and I wore a red sweater I already had

Though on retrospection, I probably should have let her buy me the lame sweater. She's pretty awesome I should go along with it

so you buy a sweater and then dont wear it for a year?

Pretty much. I wear it one Xmas day, and might wear it again the following winters after. But almost always I will only wear it on Xmas day during the holidays that I bought it.
