this processor is a Socket 370 Celeron at that. and I've checked several links, it says it takes SDRAM. 12/27/2008 1:08:44 PM |

its cool, I just have several parted out Emachines that I could use parts for. I was going to upgrade the processor, but I thought it took a Socket 478. 12/28/2008 12:27:19 PM |

lol not really...harddrive you could sell for 10 maybe, proc/motherboard for 10, ram for 5, cd-rw for 5 1/1/2009 7:37:32 AM |

^word. thats the going price these days. I mean you can buy brand new 512MB sticks of DDR for like $15. Used they are $10. The Celeron processor is not even a Socket 478. The 40GB hard drives are about $10 a piece.
In good condition and loaded with all correct software and OS, this unit would be $50----on CRAIGSLIST at that. But seeing its SDRAM as apposed to DDR, its a older pin/socket processor (370), theres only 256 instead of 512MB of memory, and the optical drive is missing---well that doesn't leave much.
I'm not trolling/flaming you, just trying to be informative about the computer market these days. For example, I'm getting a Socket 754 AMD motherboard, 1GB DDR RAM, AMD Sempron 3100+ all for = $25. Adding a brand new case, optical drive, and hard drive wouldn't be more than $50. If you can get more, you're a hell of a hustler and I need to jack my prices and sell to the target audience you've stumbled upon. 1/1/2009 6:46:54 PM |

theres tons of people tossing their PCs with the stickers still left on there. you could probably scrounge one up on CL or T-dub in a day's time. I'm sure its "valued" at $50, but what does it matter when you can get it for next to nothing? I got a bag of 200+ sticks of memory for $150, although I'm sure its "valued" at a much higher price. 1/1/2009 8:51:21 PM |

huh?
Practically all RAM these days is a form of SDRAM, that has nothing to do with whether it's DDR or not (but that computer almost certainly uses DDR SDRAM). What you'd want to know is what speed of DDR can the mobo handle (my guess is DDR 266 maybe DDR 533).1/3/2009 12:05:49 AM |

"synchronous dynamic random access memory"
To clarify I meant SDR SDRAM. But I thought most people would know what I was commonly talking about (PC100-133). Excuse my lack of attention to specific detail. 1/3/2009 1:01:45 AM |

It can only handle PC133 SDR SDRAM at the max. It cannot handle any form of "DDR". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM) 1/3/2009 1:06:52 AM |
