I thought the first half of this movie absolutely sucked ass. I was ready to cut it off. Clint's overacting was pretty hard to swallow. Luckily I stuck with it and the last half of the movie made up for the first half (and even really made it better).

I am torn on this movie. I thought Clint was incredible, but every other person in this movie absolutely terrible.

I also didn't really like the ending. It may be the stuff awards are made of, but I would have rather seen something like the end of...well I won't say anything else

incredible movie, but some of the supporting actors made me cringe. thao and his sister were particularly untalented and the priest wasn't real believable (in an acting sense, not in a role sense) either. the first half was a little slow getting started, but midway through the movie i found myself engrossed in the film. all in all, i'd rate it a 8.5/10.

^^^Agreed with the poor acting, especially when he had gotten locked in the basement and was begging to get out...the girl's attitude was pretty unbelievable...both the granddaughter and the Hmung girl

Slow, formulaic/predictable, and horribly acted by all involved.

I stopped watching after a little over an hour. I have no idea how much was left, and don't really care.

Though, the people here saying the last half was good almost have me intrigued as to what may have changed. But not enough to watch more of it.

I just finished it (credits rolling right now) and I thought it was a really good movie...Clint was great from the first minute to the song in the credits, and even though Woodfoot hasn't/hadn't seen the movie when he said it, I think he should get some serious Oscar consideration...and I thought the supporting cast did a fine job and didn't have a problem with the basement scene...just a really good movie overall
