After carefully searching tdub sports talk for 2009, draft, nfl, and all combinations thereof, i guess that there hasnt been a thread yet, or I am being let down once again by tdub search.

Anyways, I guess if there is not than I think it's high time to start talking draft.

My wish list: Percy Harvin to the Titans could be exciting.

Haven't really invested much time looking at the 09 draft (mainly because the panthers won't pick until late in the 2nd).

One thing I can't understand though is why Matthew Stafford is still on top of most draft boards. The guy is good, but really, is he that good? I've seen him play a handful of times and haven't been overly impressed. I'd take Bradford over him any day of the week. Hell, I'd take Russell Wilson over him any day of the week.

The Titans have proved incapable of taking a WR in the 1st round, I see no reason for that to change.

The Pathers' biggest need is DT for now, but that may change depending on what happens with Peppers and Gross in the offseason.

^^^ stafford is high because he is solid, has a very strong arm, and most importantly, has experience with a pro-style offense. seems that transition is alot more successful than from the shotgun typically.

That would be funny.

I think the Lions need to work on their O line, but somehow I think they might take a QB.

The Lions will take a QB because that's what new coaches do, I don't need a mock draft to tell me that.

Three underclassmen from South Carolina have already declared. Guess they were too scared to face us in Raleigh after the beating we gave them.

Lions should take Andre Smith to be their anchor for the o-line, b/c god knows that they need o-line help.

Wow, this is in for the early running of dumbest sports quote for 2009.

Stafford, who played a great second half in their bowl game, is 6-5 with a cannon. He is obviously very raw right now, but anyone can see that he is the type of build you look for in an NFL QB.

Russell Wilson over him? Wow.. fucking stupid.

I love how a guy plays a few good games for NC State and all the sudden you have him at #2 on your NFL draft board.

I'm assuming everyone in here saying the Lions should draft x player or someone at y position are assuming they won't be able to trade down, which is obviously the ideal move for them

Rivals ranked their 100 prospects for this year's draft

Check out who made #88...

Rashad Johnson didn't make Rivals' Top 100, that's crazy. Freeman didn't NEED to be listed for the very reason they stated in listing him.

yeah, he has NEVER impressed me... fucking Richt said he was the greatest QB in the history of the SEC which is fucking laughable, a damn joke.

People have got to stop letting a guy's arm strength blind them to his faults. I think that Stafford will be a huge bust.

I would love for the Giants to pick up Young. He would be a great backup and eventual replacement for Osi and Tuck.

seems like willie would benefit from another year in school on a better (presumably) team.

I am not impressed with Stafford either and I have seen him play numerous times because my roommate is quite the UGA homer

Does anyone know sites that do draft review. I'd love to see the review/re-grade of past years' drafts.

I think if Stafford has to come out and play right away he will be toast and worthless.

He needs to end up on a team where he can sit for at least a year if not more, but I don't think that is going to happen.

I agree with everything that's being said about Stafford. The Lions will take him and play him immediately because of the success ATL/BAL had this year. He's fucked.

Staffords college career was only so-so in my eyes, a lot of hype, but not enough production to back it up. That said i think with the right coaching he will be a very good pro, he has all the tools to be a big time QB. In the end i think he will be a better pro QB than he was a college QB. I put his chances of success at 60%, if the lions draft him i reduce that chance to about 18%

HYPERBOLE YOU MORON. Do you really think anyone would take a 5'10 QB whose future is in baseball anywhere in the NFL draft? Especially one that isn't even eligible until next year? FUCK NO.

Having said that, I'd take Wilson over Stafford as a college QB any day of the week.

lions have 3 of first 33 picks...

do not waste one on stafford, these mock drafts talk about about stafford not being able to do things well except he has a "cannon" in the pocket...
well so does orlovsky so we dont need a qb...

oline and dline first, secondary next... current skill players are sufficient

Why would they need replacements? Osi was drafted in 2003 and Tuck in 2005. both have long-term contracts.

Look for the Bills to try and trade back into the middle first round and finally select a center in Alex Mack, or stay put and select Jermaine Gresham or the best DE available.

Holy shit Herman Johnson... 382 lbs

What an interesting prospect.. you can't ever ask him to pull or take anyone but a DT in pass protection, but damn he'd be nice to run behind

^or play against the talent stafford did...just letting wolfpack#s know that another qb has gotten the hype for doing relatively little in college (difference being elway's ego was so much larger, he played the eli manning 'i'm not playing for this team cause i think i should be able to pick me own team' card long before manning did)

That draft countdown site has my 'Skins taking Michael Oher with the 13th pick.

I can't see him falling that far, but that would be an enormous steal and we need an OT

Some blurbs on ESPN about Andre Brown and Ant Hill at the Senior Bowl practices today......sounds like Andre had a good day:

Quote :
"North Carolina State RB Andre Brown has admittedly had durability and academic issues, but he's healthy now and shining in this environment. In fact, of all the South backs we saw Wednesday, he made the best impression. Brown is a decisive downhill runner who has good size, shows good burst to the hole and runs with enough forward body lean to pick up yards after contact. Although he's not the most elusive back, he catches the ball well and can contribute as a receiver out of the backfield. We now think he has a chance to come off the board early on Day 2 of the draft, and that's noteworthy because he didn't put up great numbers in college."

Quote :
"Still, NC State TE Anthony Hill has some developmental qualities and projects as a middle-round pick. The 6-5 254-pounder is the premier blocking tight end in the 2009 draft class, and every time we've seen him in one-on-one blocking drills this week he has won the battle. In addition, Hill is a big target who isn't afraid to throw weight around and has strong hands. As long as he is facing the quarterback, he can make the tough catch in traffic. On the other hand, helooks like a fish out of water trying to catch the ball on the run and/or over his shoulder."
