Announced new tour

kicking off April 12 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Thinking about getting me and my Dad tickets but not exactly sure what I'm in for. Any fans that can lend some insight?

Let me know so I can get some homeless people to stand in line all night and then scalp them on Craigsbay.

Are they actually touring as the Grateful Dead or are they touring as the Dead? I'd actually rather see Dark Star Orchestra than to see a halfassed GD with no Jerry...

they are touring as the dead ( Bob weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann). And then there is also Warren Haynes, doing the lead guitar/vocals, although i'm sure Bobby will be singing as well...

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh were looking very rough the last time I saw them with their separate bands Ratt Dog and Lesh and Friends, and that was back in 2000. I'd hate to imagine how bad they'd sound 9 years later and still without Jerry.

I accidentally went to see Cosmic Charlie one time. This Ramones cover band called the Rawmoans was playing at the Cat's Cradle, but I got the night mixed up so me and my homeboy paid $10 each and walked in there to find a room full of hippies. I was like "WTF" and got my money back from the dude working the door on the promise that we'd come back on the right night.

I never really got into Government Mule, but some of his other work (with Allman Bros Band, and the song he did with Corrosion of Conformity) is really good.

and the Grateful Dead were awesome...but I wouldn't make any special effort to go see this show.

American Beauty is one of the greatest records ever made, and in my top 10 of all time.

Beyond that record, I've never had much use for The Grateful Dead.
