Serious question

If Tebow comes out this year, would yall take him with the 2nd round?

I think I would at this point.

There's no way that happens, unless he has a delhommesque game tomorrow.

I think what we're gonna have to do is draft a rookie and have him sit behind delhomme for 8 games or so, then give him a shot to take over.

Although I worry about delhomme looking good to start the season, and the panthers being tempted to stay with him.

What about giving Matt Moore another shot? He looked like he had some promise last year.

McCown probably not so much.

As much as people are going to trash Delhomme in the near future and as much as he deserves it, there is literally <1% chance that we take a QB with one of our two day 1 picks. He will be the starter in the 2009 season and I'm okay with it.

We all know that he's capable of throwing up a stinker.. it just sucks that he waited for the worst possible time to do so this year

Delhomme isnt going anywhere. there will be competition in training camp, but he will start, and he should regardless of tonight. Delhomme won games time and time again, and thown shitty ones too, but if you take him out of the team equation you might as well tear it down and start over

there's no one out there to get, McNabb is staying in philadelphia, Tebow probably wont play qb in the league, and seriously how many Flaccos and Ryans are there period, let alone available that can be installed after 8 games to a pro system as a rookie.

no one loses their job on this team outside of the secondary

Matt Moore looked good after watching the David Carr show and Vinny for 9 games. This year in the preseason he wasn't as impressive following Jake onto the field. Though I think that he may be a great replacement down the road he would do well to watch some more from the sidelines and learn in practice a la Matt Cassel

they simply aren't going to make that change, as long as fox is here and jake is here he's going to start. the guy's a loyal coach, ask stephen davis and deshaun foster. And where are we going to find that new guy, we don't have a first round pick, and i think that after mortgaging this draft our front office won't make that move again this year. I don't see any of your list becoming available ever

oh and

you're fired for romo, you may say you want him tonight but you would regret it in the morning

(and by morning i mean the day after the huge game your team played in that he choked away)

I can't decide, is it worse to choke the game away in the last moments, or blow the game so spectacularly that there is never any doubt of the outcome?

All of those guys were first round picks except for Schaub, Romo, and Cassel, and those 3 didn't start their first year in the league.

There's very little doubt that Delhomme starts next year. Certainly the team will start to investigate the long term plans at the position no doubt, but for now it's still him.

I think he needs to get back to the mindset that he had before he realized that Steve Smith was a god, because when Arizona took Smith away last night he had no idea what to do. He has to be prepared to go through his progression even if he fully expects Smith to be wide open. There's no doubt that he will be doing some soul searching over the next 6 months.

Jake in the past has been just above average, but this season he really limited us and almost cost us a few games and then ended up costing us in the playoffs.

He is the weakest piece of our entire O. We have a solid OL(hopefully we get everyone back), 2 great young RBs, a dominant WR and a couple of pieces around him. If we had Flacco in there last night we'd have won, 6 turnovers is too much for any team to overcome.

The only problem with us advancing from Jake, is that we don't have that 1st round pick and really the FA market overall is weak. I mean Hasselback might be available, Kyle Orton potentially, but mainly just a bunch of guys on the way out of their current spot. I really think Fox bet the farm on this being the year, and I wouldn't be surprised if Fox got some heat put on him to find a replacement.

If we're going to make a QB change, next year will be the year to do it. We need to get someone in there while our running backs are in the fold and while we still have the pieces around to help him be successful. We don't need the biggest arm, just someone accurate who knows when Smith is covered and can look to someone else. And actually, this year's draft might be really deep at QB if everyone leaves, if not, then next year's class will be full of studs and I think you just hold out until then. And no, even if Tebow comes out, you don't draft him to be your starting QB. He has always played out of the spread and that doesn't work with our offense or what we're trying to do.

Delhomme isn't going anywhere. He's going to be our starter our next year and we aren't even going to look at QBs in free agency or the draft. Just get it out of your minds. What we should be worrying about is resigning Gross and Peppers, while looking to add some depth on defense. Yeah, yesterday sucked, but remember where we were last year and the expectations we had coming in. 12-4, winning the division (which was very strong this year) and securing the 2nd seed was a great accomplishment for a team just hoping to be back in the playoffs.

The Panthers would never sign Vick, the Cowboys on the other hand...

I say do everything you can to get one of the following: Bradford/Stafford/Tebow/Cassel

^you understand that isnt going to happen, cassel is getting franchised, and we have no way of getting that high in the draft. Even if we did they wouldn't produce for a while and it still would be jake out there for us.

2009 is going to see delhomme starting, and he should be. Keep developing moore to take over later, like cassel and aaron rodgers he could be good after learning the system for three years with the clipboard. We saw his potential at the end of 2007, but give him one or two more years of maturing to see what hes got.

I want to see young depth added on defense. Maybe a new DC?

V Crennel - Marinelli 09, Herm Edwards Secretary of Playing to Win (i know you were serious about DC though)

^ is not the answer

Even though jake sucked it up bad last night, I wouldn't throw him under the bus until you had a bona fide replacement. Bradford will not make it in the pros, tebow is staying at UF, and going to moore/mccown would definitely be a downgrade.

The Panthers need to overhaul the secondary. Obviously Gamble isn't going anywhere but I think its time to cut ties with Lucas and Peppers

Lucas is consistently out of position and getting burned.

Peppers may be athletic enough to drop into coverage but the man loafs on too many plays. Last night he made one big play and was quiet the rest of the night. He is not getting doubled every play. He is supposed to be a premier defensive end yet he acts like he doesn't want to be there. Go after Albert Haynesworth with the money you will save on a big contract for Peppers.

Delhomme isn't going anywhere, Stinky Jake showed up last night and he was terrible, unfortunately there are no QBs out there that are worth picking up, we have no first round pick, Josh McCown and Matt Moore are career backups not NFL starters. We are a running team and we got away from that too early last night. All of Jake's picks were plays being forced to Smith and were telegraphed passes because Jake was not looking off the receiver.

I don't see very much on this team changing except for the secondary.

We don't have a 1st round pick.... that pretty much excludes a rejuvinating draft, but free agency fallout from this loss could be tremendous....

i don't think this loss really effects free agency stuff...or would the giants and titans also have the same problems? if anything maybe it will attract a QB who knows we have some good pieces around him?

yeah, could be true that even free agency dusnt change us much. This is a good team that had a nightmare scenario unfold on them EARLY in a playoff game. We were one dimensional for more than three quarters...

There is also no reason to think this team wont be better next year as is...

We have some great young running backs and linebackers, and some good offensive linemen...we have to get rid of Lucas though...he's one of our highest paid players, and he seems like he's gotten worse every season...getting rid of him would really free up some cap space...also I like Peppers, even though he's a UNC guy...but the guy just doesn't give it 110% every game...if he did, I'd definitely want to keep him...but he's been in the league long enough where you know what you're getting...which is a very talented player who doesn't try hard all the time

i think wherever peppers goes, if he goes anywhere, he'll have Kris Jenkins Syndrome and will probably dominate just to try to prove himself, then maybe fall off lethargically late in the year

I think maybe in the offseason, Jake should have a training program with Usain Bolt...maybe try to turn Jake into a dual threat QB...shave about 7 or 8 tenths of a second off his 40-time

Peppers didn't do much last night because they were purposely running the offense away from him. I do think we should trade him for picks though--we should be able to get 1 or 2 first round picks for him.
