like just to get the file off the thing

go into the VIDEO_TS directory and save the .VOB files

DVDs are physically different from CDs. If you actually have a computer that's 50 years old that has no DVD drive, there is no way to get the files off of it.

If however you do have a drive that can read DVDs, then you can use a program like DVDShrink to convert the DVD to an AVI.

rub your mouse over it, in modern computers the laser optic system of the mouse can read and decode dvds

he can't do that without a DVD drive. If he don't have the hardware to read the DVD, he's S.O.L.

To get files off a DVD, with no DVD-drive you're probably going to need a magnifying glass and some tweezers
