Wolfpack seniors Andre Brown and Anthony Hill have both accepted invitations to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, on January 24. The game will kick off at 7 pm (Eastern) and will be televised by the NFL Network.
Brown, a tailback from Greenville, N.C., finished his NC State career ranked seventh in school history in career rushing yards (2,539), seventh in rushing touchdowns (22) and 12th in career scoring (144 points).
Hill, a tight end from Houston, Texas, was a team captain in 2008 after sitting out the 2007 season with an injury. He finished his career with 80 catches for 848 yards. " |

congrats to both guys. You can make a name for yourself in this game. All the scouts will be there to see them. I hope they both do insanely well and soar up the boards. 1/13/2009 4:46:10 PM |

Quote : | "North Carolina State RB Andre Brown has admittedly had durability and academic issues, but he's healthy now and shining in this environment. In fact, of all the South backs we saw Wednesday, he made the best impression. Brown is a decisive downhill runner who has good size, shows good burst to the hole and runs with enough forward body lean to pick up yards after contact. Although he's not the most elusive back, he catches the ball well and can contribute as a receiver out of the backfield. We now think he has a chance to come off the board early on Day 2 of the draft, and that's noteworthy because he didn't put up great numbers in college. " |
Quote : | "The gulf in natural ability between Nelson and the other two tight ends on the South roster is vast. Still, NC State TE Anthony Hill has some developmental qualities and projects as a middle-round pick. The 6-5 254-pounder is the premier blocking tight end in the 2009 draft class, and every time we've seen him in one-on-one blocking drills this week he has won the battle. In addition, Hill is a big target who isn't afraid to throw weight around and has strong hands. As long as he is facing the quarterback, he can make the tough catch in traffic. On the other hand, he looks like a fish out of water trying to catch the ball on the run and/or over his shoulder. At one point, the tight ends were running seam routes against air; Hill didn't get his head turned in time to locate the ball, a

Looks like our boys are showing up well in practice. Especially Brown.

Nice. I just came across this in a SB blog I've been following:
"One player really shined today and generated a ton of buzz among virtually everyone I spoke with. My MVP for today's practice is N.C. State tailback Andre Brown. Brown was hitting the hole extremely hard today, displaying outstanding vision, and impressing the crowd when he juked Clay Matthews on a sweep. I really can't wait to watch some Wolfpack tape when I get home to see if I underrated Brown's play. He has no second gear, but he flashed some impressive talent and upside." 1/22/2009 12:39:17 PM |

If only they had seen him his freshman year. Foot injuries have really slowed the guy down. I still remember watching him run away from the FSU secondary1/22/2009 5:10:46 PM |

^ I remember that too. It like a 55 yard run or something down the middle of the field. After that play I thought, "this kid should be our starter next season." 1/22/2009 6:55:12 PM |

^ ha ha... puddle jumper. I fly Falcon 20's but yes, there should be 2 or 3 60's doing the fly over and I am trying to be in the press box coordinating it.
You know you'll be jealous when we take the field between the 3rd and 4th quarter!
yeah, I may be a puddle jumper but yet 50%ish of our pilots took a reduction in rank to come over from another service just to fly for the Coast Guard. Saving Lives is cool!!

Guys Who Opened Some Eyes
RB Andre Brown, NCSU. Brown made some money on Saturday night. He's battled injures throughout his college career, but when healthy, it's hard to bring down the 225-pound back. Brown converted a huge fourth-and-1 in the first half, and also ripped off several long runs to sustain drives. And his 31-yard reception -- a screen pass set up by a wonderful Quinn Johnson block -- showed his ability to maneuver in space. 1/25/2009 2:31:42 AM |

UA Senior Bowl Risers, Fallers, Up-and-Comers
Andre Brown, RB, NC State
One running back that really impressed me this week was NC State’s Andre Brown. He had a great burst through the line, displayed patience and vision as he reached the second level, and had surprising quickness in the open field. Not only is he a powerful runner, but he’s also been the most impressive RB in blocking drills. He’s not afraid of contact and will use his 6-foot, 224-pound frame to knock out an oncoming defender. Brown carried over his performance in practice into the game, where he was a factor in the running and passing game. He had 10 carries for 26 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 39 yards. Brown’s performance at the Senior Bowl will be one scouts remember as they head into the Scouting Combine, and if he does well in Indianapolis, he could emerge as a third round prospect. 1/26/2009 10:45:12 AM |
