I figured this would be a good thread to discuss the best players in college basketball. Will Hansdouche become the first player to come back and repeat since Ralph Sampson? Can Stephen Curry win NPOY despite being at tiny ol' Davidson? How about the do-everything great forward Blake Griffin. Can he win NPOY if he leads the Sooners to glory this year? Does Jodie Meeks 54 point record setting performance against Tennessee thrust him into the discussion?

Stats:
Player - PPG APG 3P% RPG BPG SPG
Hansbrough - 22.4 0.8 .250 7.5 0.4 1
Curry - 28.5 6.7 .361 4.1 0.3 3.1
Griffin - 22.4 2.5 .600 13.8 1.5 1.5
Meeks - 25.9 1.9 .444 3.6 0.1 1.5

Griffin or Curry most likely.

i really hope it's not Curry. sure, he's putting up good numbers, but by that rationale Drew Brees should have won the NFL MVP.

6 of Davidson's 12 wins are against lowly SoCo opponents and when they got their opportunity to play the big boys, they couldn't pull it out. their marquee win is 4-loss WVU

I think it should be Griffin

if I had a vote, McNeal would be a close second. but in reality, there's no chance in hell he'll get any consideration because that team is star studded with Matthews, Hayward and James.

then I'd vote Singler third

I'd vote James Harden dead fucking last! He is shitty and needs to come back for his junior year to prove he's a good player

it's crazy, ain't it?

I hate Duke, yet I think they're going to finish the regular season #1 in the nation and he's the best player on the team and the best player on the team that finishes #1 in the nation usually gets some serious POY consideration

Curry can't help who he plays, he is a college athlete.

Look what he did against the good teams he played though. 40+ against us and Oklahoma.

Lol, did Bibeau steal your user name?

I would expect Duke to lose to both Wake and UNC each time they play. They aren't built to beat super athletic teams. They are very good, don't get me wrong, but they don't strike me as too much different than their last two teams.

The decreased playing time for Paulus and development of Henderson will make them better in the tournament, but I don't see them finishing the season #1 or making it to the Final 4 (Sweet 16 is where my money would be).

--------------

I think you have to look at Luke Harangody seriously in this discussion. His numbers are pretty sick and ND NEEDS him to win...

it would be great for the bobcats to win the lottery and grab griffin.

though, I can't imagine myself giving two shits about the bobcats...

i always wished they would actually look at the most VALUABLE player not the best player on the best team. Teams can win for a number of reasons but the award should go to the player that is most important (like Curry, Griffin, McClinton, etc)

I disagree with it going to someone like Hansdouche just because unc is a top 5 caliber team

Who do you all think wins ACC POY? I mean there are still plenty of voters that don't pay attention as much as they should, and Hansbrough is the defending POY. It's not like he's having a bad year either.

McClinton might be the best player in the ACC... but his team kinda sucks, so I'll say it probably goes to Hansbrough, Lawson, or Teague if Wake finishes pretty decent.

^^ he was doing really well, but the Big XII media were gushing over Beasley too much. plus Oklahoma wasn't nearly as good as they are now. they didn't have Willie Warren who is outstanding, also Austin Johnson has really matured this year.

How difficult is it to understand? If you say we in reference to a college team other than NC State then you're a homer. If you say we in reference to UNC then you're a UNC homer. Don't sit there and act like you didn't expect people to bitch about your UNC homerism. If you've been here 7 years then you know people are going to bitch so you were obviously trolling. So GTFO already.

He said Lawson is the most valuable player on the team, what's homerish about that?
