I like just the fact that they made this into an AP story... they must be starving for some news lately.[Edited on January 15, 2009 at 12:06 PM. Reason : ]

^ exactly. i hate that these kinds of stories are perpetuated.I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]

1/15/2009 12:08:06 PM
"these kind of stories"you act like they're slanderoussome dumbass dropped his gun in the toilethe should be exposed for his idiocy and danger to others

What determines whether or not the news is worthy of being distributed? Why don't you think this was worthy of the negligible amount of space it occupies in the internet's tubes?
1/15/2009 12:11:39 PM
um anything that has no effect on general population shouldn't be broadcast on TV.okay maybe this wasn't on tv, but there are plenty of stories equally as retarded on tv.quick grammar question.if i said anything that does not affect would that be the correct usage?I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]
1/15/2009 12:13:10 PM
why is this news?
1/15/2009 12:16:09 PM
^ yeah exactly.Ronny: You can question why i don't like this, but i'll ask you the same question why do they broadcast this shit? I'm Big Business and i approved this message.

Because it was in Centerville, Utah. Now, I've never been there, but I imagine there isn't much happening in Centerville, Utah. So, when a gun goes off in a fast food restaurant, of course the local media is going to jump on that. The AP or Yahoo or someone saw this, a story about gun safety, and decided to copy and paste it onto their website. What's difficult to comprehend? It isn't like Yahoo sent a team of investigators out there to cover the breaking story or anything. They don't have journalists embedded in Centerville, Utah. They simply pulled it off the wire.[Edited on January 15, 2009 at 12:22 PM. Reason : .]

the way they worded it is just very comical to me. "The man escaped" as though sitting on the shitter is a dangerous affair in Utah. This should be on a police blotter at most, not an AP story. As they say "shit happens". Sorry, a little cliche.
1/15/2009 12:23:45 PM
Why y'all be hatin on the soft news?
1/15/2009 12:24:22 PM
you'd have to give props to Centerville Police Dept, that perspective photo is a winner in my book.

You gotta fill 23 minutes of local news a night. It's that simple. It's not like they can do news, sports, and weather in 14 minutes and then show the first act of a Seinfeld episode and satisfy people.

WHAT IF WE COULD?

I'm having a hard time understanding how dropping a gun causes a discharge. Aren't modern guns outfitted with safety systems to prevent the hammer from engaging the firing pin unless the trigger is operated?I could see a revolver with no trigger guard being set off by dropping, though.[Edited on January 15, 2009 at 1:41 PM. ^^^ I dunno, but I remember in high school some dude shot his wiener off getting in the car. Since then I've been very weary about where my handgun is aimed when I carry it.
1/15/2009 2:07:35 PM
many guns could go off if dropped at the right angle and with enough force, even newer models like the Ruger LCP, which currently has a recall due to similar happenings. If you are going to carry a loaded weapon, it should be retained properly for such an occasion.
