so the gf fubared her latop and i'm finally gettin around to fixing it. she deosn't have a restore partition or recovery disc. she has a coa but when i attempt to activate windows it won't give me an install key.called ms talked with them for 2hrs and got nothing. i googled it and all the methods around it involved safe mode which doesn't work. anybody have an idea on how i can make this work ? will i have to activate a sp1 version of xp?

i really don't even get what the problem is. i've downloaded many windows CD's from torrent sites when I couldn't my CD, used the code on the sticker on the computer..if it didn't work I'd call MS and go through some automated shit and they'd give me a long ass code to put in and it'd work. Not really sure what the problem is here.

so when the code is supposed to be generated to get the validation code nothing happens. so i call ms and say the system didn't generate the code i give them so they can give me a code. i get transfrered and lost forever... i don't know why the system isn't generating that code.

if you have a COA, then fuck it. They really cant sue you over a key. You have what you paid for. Im sorry to say but that sticker is what you really are buying...
