wrong, there is a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level.

you don't get back less because of your tax bracket...tax is gradual, it's not like a guy who makes 74,999 (hypothetical numbers) pays 25%, but a guy who makes 75,000 pays 28%...you pay 15% on your first $xxx, 20% on the next $xxx and so on - the amount you get back depends on the amount withheld from your paycheck...if you are getting big refunds...you are withholding too much and giving the gov't an interest free loan.

its basic theory that if you tax something you get less of it, if you subsidize something you get more of it.

So taxing production prob isnt the best idea.

I love the fairtax, prob the only thing that will keep us afloat long term and slow the growth of govt. imo

Before income taxes were implemented, people would pay their income taxes once a year in march. But people never saved enough to pay what they owed the government. Then they changed it to deduct from your paycheck so the government gets paid first. If you want to pay yourself first, as you should, you should invest in a 401K or other account that you can transfer money from your paycheck into before your taxes are deducted.
