Meet Oz, the 6 week old Rottweiler.

Checking the place out:

Meeting Dizzy:

Short break:

Meeting Jekyll:

Post-bath:

He's currently passed out in my lap because he cries incessantly when we crate him or leave him alone.

purebred. no papers. mom is akc, dad was never registered. both were on site and gorgeous. we got him for much less than a typical purebred because of the lack of papers/show value. guy's been doing rotties for about 16 years and has decided to stop breeding them, so this was his last litter.

So nice when you know they weren't predestined for the runway. Very nice deal, and a wonderful personality from the looks of it.

He'll be a guard dog in appearance, but I don't expect him to be aggressive nor are we going to let him develop that kind of behavior. But people are less likely to fuck with a house that has a 100 lb Rottie at the window.

Worst kind is a pregnant dog. She'll assassinate an infant who got within a mile of the perimeter.

Worst traits of a lab and poodle mixed together!

They are bouncy fuckers that stubbornly do not listen!

I have a labradoodle. She's black and right now about 40 pounds. A lil less than a year old. Adorable, but definitely has a mind of her own. Her name is Jemma! She's definitely a high energy dog, but she's still got so much puppy in her.

Though the breed isn't really ironed out and they vary quite a bit, I'm finding myself rather fond of them. And I've never been a dog owner until now. She doesn't shed, and doesn't get our allergies in an uproar like the cats do. I love my cats, but I don't love the cat hair or the dander or the red eyes I get. And I wash them often, dammit.

BTW, Rottweilers are one of my most favorite dogs. The others would be Australian cattle dogs, Basenjis, Smooth Collies, German Shepards, and Belgian Malinois. Oh, can't forget Border Collies.

Well, Oz definitely doesn't tolerate being crated yet. It's not the crate itself- it's being physically separated from us. He'd never been away from his mom or siblings, so obviously this was a big deal for him. After letting him cry (or should I say wail and scream?) in his crate for about 20 minutes, I took him in our bathroom and stayed with him. He finally ate and drank a little, then plopped down next to me and passed out. Eventually MJ traded places with me (at about 2 am) and he slept on the floor with him.

So, a 6 week old puppy means less than 3 hours of sleep. We might try letting him sleep on the bed with us tonight since he didn't have any accidents in the bathroom and promptly went to the bathroom when I took him outside this morning.

By this morning he was following me around the house, grunting and pulling at my pants. It was so cute! He comes when called, goes outside with me and Dizzy and comes back in on his own. MJ went into work to set something up but will work from home today so Oz gets some more adjustment time.

Yeah, Marley was the same way. He loved his big ass cage, but he had terrible separation anxiety. It was a bitch crate training him.

We would put our new puppies in a box next to bed when we sleep, then just sleep with a hand in the box. When they get used to that you can take you hand out and put in a hot water bottle and tick tock clock. Then eventually you can wean them from that and they are AOK to be in their crates.

hahaha, swatting the dog is one of my cats favorite games
though, he gets her back by pulling her around by the tail
