looking to buy a new lcd. i've narrowed it down to the following:

SAMSUNG 2243BWX
http://tinyurl.com/2ttxkn

Dell Ultrasharp 2208WFP
http://tinyurl.com/ytkrrt

Anyone have either of these, thoughts? any reason to definitely go with one over the other? Any other screens I should definitely consider?

I'm looking for 22", 2-5ms, pivot, and preferably height adjustable stand. It's gonna be paired with a 19" dell lcd. I would consider 24" as well. But the higher price point of comparable 24" screens I've found isn't worth it to me. Using it for digital drawing/painting (that's why i'd like it to pivot), occasionally watching movies. Other general work/school use as well, but don't need anything specific for that.

I have the Samsung LCD without the sweet ass stand, and I like it. I'm not a gamer and I stream movies to my tv so I honestly couldn't tell you how games or movies will look on it.

now that i think about it, i would consider a monitor that doesn't come with a height adjustable and pivoting stand considering i could buy one separate and the nvidia software can rotate the screen.

Also considering the samsung T220

Dell 2209WA is a lot better for $50 more. If Dell offers coupons on it, you can get it for the same price. The 2209WA is an S-IPS panel with better viewing angles and color reproduction.

Im looking to buy a monitor around 19"-22" for programming purposes. I want it to turn 90 degrees so it is taller rather than wider. Does anyone know of a monitor that can physically do this or is software (and an old school 4:3 monitor) the best way to go?

duro982 it seems you were in the same boat (pivoting). How did it work out for you? Did you get a monitor that pivots or use software?

'pivot' is the keyword for all of it. I had a friend who was looking for one that pivots for letter-writing purposes. She went with an HP model, can't recall which one, but it was 22".

here's a link:

yeah man. you just need to get a monitor with a stand that pivots.

I bought this: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=corp&sku=320-7825

I wouldn't recommend that particular display if you don't care about the fact that it's an ips panel. You can get one for a good bit less.

I'm in the same boat 2243swx, and it pisses me off royally. But, the display itself is dope as hell.
