If you were to make a resume for yourself that just included the major sporting events you have been to (and years) what would yours look like?

What do you constitute as a major sporting event?

Something that is either during a tournament, or where something famous happened (like where emmitt smith broke payton's record, etc)

Basically state games don't count

I guess you can count bowl games if you want, but I probably wouldn't stick the meineke car care bowl in my resume..

[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 9:30 AM. Reason : bowls]

goddammit I'll post mine and then keep thinking of new ones and be too lazy to go edit them in

but anyway, in no particular order

Hornets/Celtics playoff game when Zo hit the shot with .4 left to win the series

Nets/Magic game game when Shaq brought down the backboard

Lots of Giants/Jets games...can't remember anything that notable

The Robin Ventura grand slam single

The David Cone no hitter

The Jeffery Maier game

The Payne Stewart US open

The Ryder cup this past year

Bobcats/Lakers where Kobe dropped 58

[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 9:45 AM. Reason : Almost every Panthers home game so everything that happened there...plus the NFC championship and SB]

Went a Brazil/Holland Olympics game at the Orange Bowl back in the '96 Olympics. Other than that I've just been to a few Braves games when I was a kid and an Avalanche Hockey game when I was in Colorado skiing in high school (was actually kind of cool because they honored the Broncos Super Bowl team and I got to see John Elway...probably my favorite NFL player at the time).

But honestly...probably the best was an FC Barcelona game when I was backpacking through Europe earlier this fall. Fucking shattered any sporting event I've ever been to in America.

Countless NC State games (including wins over 3 of our rivals and ND in football)
ACC Tourney (a Friday night double header. NC State and FSU which we won, and Wake and... maybe GT? i think wake won (chris pauls freshman year) )
5-6 Panthers games (all of which were panthers Ws)
5-10 Hornets games before they left Charlotte

about 5 NCHSAA State championship games (all from the sideline)
around 6 or 7 Butler/Indy games in memorial (all from the sideline)
2 WC/Indy games (press box)
3 Football Olympic/Charlotte Catholic games (growing charlotte rivalry, all from the sideline)

-2006 Stanley Cup Finals Game 7
-Panthers Wild Card game vs. Cowboys in 2003
-Panthers Divisional game vs. Cardinals in 2009 ( )
-Some notable NC State football and basketball games I guess (the 83-79 game against UNC probably the best)
-I'd probably also put NHL games in St. Paul and Buffalo just because those are the only times I've really traveled to games

Hoping to add a World Cup to this list some day.

this would be a fun thing to compile when i have some time.

i've been to countless State games including a bunch of bowls; been to a couple of ACC tourney games in Greensboro; a number of MLB games & a few NHL too. but i've never been to an NBA game or regular season NFL game -- i went to a couple of Houston Oiler preseason games in the old House of Pain, but that's it.

-2008 US Open on Sunday and Monday (Tiger vs. Rocco)
-2006 saw Troy Tulowitzki turn an unassisted triple play that no one knew was a triple play.
-2002 Won $100.00 from Mark Sweeney (All-time leader in Pinch Hits, haha) in a golf bet
-~1995 Andres Gallaragga hit a homer in the 6th, 7th, and 8th inning vs. the Padres

I've seen Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, and Griffey Jr. hit home runs in person. Saw the one Bonds hit circa 2003 in the WS that cleared the park in Anaheim.

I caught a Bo Jackson foul ball when I was 10 or so and sold it for $50.00 on the spot.

First Game in Ericsson Stadium (Los Angeles Rams I believe...I think they were Los Angeles then)
First Panthers Playoff game (@ Ericsson vs. Dallas)
Last Hornets game in Charlotte
Clemson vs. South Carolina about 10 years ago

Went to about the 1995 ACC tournament when I was younger, but of course State sucked.

..and that's about it. I suck

Worth a mention:
2006 Eastern Conference Finals, Game 2 (Sabres at Hurricanes) - maybe not as significant since it wasnt the clinching game
2003 Gator Bowl
2003 Maryland at NC State - Philip Rivers last game in Raleigh.

others I can remember are

the Gator bowl where we beat ND 21-6 (2003)

been to the Indy 500 3 times

a couple Pistons and Tigers games

anyone remember the World League? I can remember going to a couple Skyhawks games when i was a kid.

[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 12:33 PM. Reason : still want to go to a Panthers game someday]

1986 - Mets clinch NL East vs Cubs (was too young to remember)
1988 - Mets lose in Game 7 vs Dodgers (fucking Kirk Gibson)
2003 - NCAA 2nd Round: NC State-UConn/Maryland-???
1989 - NCAA Elite 8: Duke-UConn (it's why I hate Duke to this day)
1998 - NFL Playoffs: Jets-Jags (I think it ws the Jags -- whole stadium was singing Glory Days at the end -- was awesome)

------------

Oh, I didn't know this was like a full resume.

I've been to tons of games in Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium and of course Shea. I'm going to Citi Field in July of next year with the folks. I've also been to games in the Vet, CBP, Jacobs, Camden, RFK, Turner, Atlanta-Fulton County, 3 Rivers, AT&T, Dodger Stadium, Anaheim, Oakalnd Coliseum and SkyDome (I think that's it).

Giants and Jets games a lot as well as a few Pats games. Rangers and Knicks games and a few Nets/Devils ones. Ummm... UConn basketball season ticket holder for 15 years. Canes games.

My family is sports crazy and my Dad has been lucky enough to get season tickets through every place he has worked until now.

Oh and every Big East Tournament from 1990 - 1999 (UConn won FOUR in that time!)

1999 MLB Allstar game at Fenway Park in Boston. Saw Ted Williams at the Hotel. My mom got to talk to him on the elevator. He died shortly after.

Been to several Braves games and 1 Redsox game.

I saw Kerry Collins break his Jaw and Steve Berlien take over for the Panthers in ~99.

I went to the last NASCAR Day Race at Darlington.

Went to the ACC Tournament in Greensboro..sat beside Mike Hodgewood's TV booth and got to hear him most of the game and got on TV alot. Duke vs Carolina in the Championship...State lost early.

I was mid court, front row when we beat Duke and Cameron Bennermen had his dunk over Sheldon Williams. That was the best state game Ive been too.

My list is pretty pathetic:

2 MLB games (Braves v. Brewers, Tigers v. ???)
1 NASCAR race @ Charlotte
NCSU v. BC Evans to Dunlap
NCSU v. FSU after ^ game (CF was rocking)
83-79 BBall game
this year's ECU game
NIT Game v. Marist (probably the most fun I've had at a sporting event)
oh and two Hurricanes games. One v. Dallas and one v. the Capitals last January. It was military appreciation night, and after the game we got to watch a blackhawk take off from like 35 yards, haha

Wimbledon final Sampras vs. Rafter, where Sampras broke the All time Record.
Giants vs. Cubs at Wrigley field where Bonds hit two homers to move within like 3 of the record.

Thats about all that is noteworthy

LOL

2007 Car Care Bowl

and

I saw the Harlem Globetrotters at Reynolds Col. in like 1991

---
but really
the two most significant games were probably

NLCS Game 2 - 2006
Cardinals score 3 amazing runs at the end, I fear for my life and wait for everyone else in my section to head for the gates before I stand up.

UConn Huskies beat their first ranked team by going wild against USF. Fans rush the field.
To go from not seeing my team win a single game (in person) the year before, to watching grown ass men hop the fence to get on the field - that will always be one of my favorite sporting moments.

Honorable Mentions
The week before the USF game, UConn vs Louisville
When Larry Taylor did the fake fair catch and started running we were in the student section and the whole crowd was just like GET THERE MAN GET THERE
We all thought it would get called back, and nothing happened.... it was a perfect moment
A few plays later, Louisville would get a serious no-call, like "Robbed a touchdown from UConn" no-call
So the whole student section erupts again, and eventually people began soaking these furry helmet things that AT&T had handed out and started throwing them on the field

It was amazing watching these blue/white tribble things just flowing from the south end of the stadium...

it didnt completely break, just spider webbed and the had to replace it

kinda funny since Chris Morris weighed 215 pounds max
