The "open set" that nccu is running is how a 16 seed and the second round opponent almost beat duke in recent years.


If you have shooters and footspeed, it's a pretty good strategy.

I don't think our guys have ever realized that shooters have pretty much unlimited range if

1. they know you won't challenge them that far out
2. they get time to square up
3. they shoot in their natural motion


This is why it always seems like guys are hitting ridiculous shots in our face. You could probably go to any basketball league in the country and find several guys who can consistently hit shots well beyond the 3 point line with no pressure.

In conclusion, don't let shooters square up within 30 feet of the basket.

on the other hand, you let them spread you out if you guard them 5 feet behind the line. I don't mind giving up that shot to be honest with you unless its fucking JJ Reddick back there. (you're probably laying on some sarcasm)



Our problem tonight is turnovers. 3 straight to start both halves. And Ferg is like 0-9 from 3 tonight.

gotta find a way to get johnny thomas more minutes. You can play freshmen if they are dedicated to hustling, rebounding, and playing defense. He has the potential to be our best defender because he actually has lateral foot speed.
