UFL Mission Statement:

"To fulfill the unmet needs of football fans in major markets currently underserved by professional football by providing a high quality traditional football league comprised of world class professional football players. The UFL will serve the communities with pride, dedication and passion, and uphold a leadership role in the development of football worldwide. The UFL will provide every fan with an affordable, accessible, exciting and entertaining game experience."
When will UFL games be played?

The UFL will play in the fall, during traditional football season, to establish the league as a viable entity and will offer real, 11-on-11, outdoor professional football in NFL quality stadiums/venues. The UFL will play its regular season games on Thursday and Friday evenings in the fall, with the first regular season game kicking off in September and the Championship Game being played in late November.
Where will the UFL have teams?

The UFL is targeting major U.S. markets currently underserved in professional football as well as some markets that make fiscal sense: Hartford, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Monterrey (Mexico), Orlando, New York, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
Who will play and coach in the UFL?

The UFL will field teams comprised of the best players in the world and tomorrow's rising stars. There are thousands of talented world class players who are looking to play professional football at a high level. The UFL will provide that opportunity. UFL team and league personnel will be seasoned and experienced. Coaches and general managers will consist of current and former NFL coaches, general managers, coordinators & assistant coaches and possibly some NCAA Division I-A coaches.
Why will the UFL work?

The UFL's approach, rules and style of play will look and feel substantially similar to the NFL and will cater to those markets currently underserved by professional football. The UFL will assemble the best talent on the field, on the sidelines and in the league and team offices to ensure a credible, high-quality product that is accessible and affordable for fans. A draft, salary cap and revenue sharing will encourage an on-field competitive balance among teams creating an "Any Given Sunday" atmosphere which should offer exciting and intriguing outcomes.
Who is behind the UFL?

UFL's leaders are experienced NFL franchise builders. UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue has over 20 years of NFL management experience and is considered the architect in establishing the Jacksonville Jaguars as the winningest franchise of the NFL within a five year span in his role as the team's Senior V.P. of Football Operations. The League's Chief Operating Officer is Frank Vuono who significantly expanded the scope of NFL Properties as its Vice President of Retail Licensing and has personally managed marketing and licensing programs for many sports and entertainment personalities and properties including Steve Young, Hakeem Olajuwon, the San Francisco 49ers and Disney's Wide World of Sports. The UFL has also hired a number of former senior NFL executives to oversee league and team operations. Investors in the UFL include Bill Hambrecht, Chairman and CEO of WR Hambrecht + Co. and Tim Armstrong, President of Advertising and Commerce, North America & Vice President, Google, Inc.

Will ESPN plan on covering them? I think that would play into their success, i hadnt even heard of it until they just updated on their ticker that Fassel was hired to coach the Las Vegas team

i think this could actually work, because they will sell tickets on Sundays in cities that don't have NFL teams. it may not be a major cash cow, but it will be sustainable like minor league baseball is.

I guess it depends on where you live, but I know that basically the entire population of the small town where I came from can be found at the football stadium on certain Friday nights in the fall.

^^welcome to 2009. They are changing the television signal to all digital possibly this month. And i always wondered why they were still running ads asking people if they were ready for the switch.

I know about the switch to digital, you asshat. You said "once they switch over to digital cable signal", which doesn't make a lot of sense.

And what does it have to do with people who go to high school football games?

You're honestly the worst poster in ST

^^aight ernie let me spell this out for you

they are talking about starting a new football league with games that would be televised on thurs and fri nights.

and then i asked who watches high school football anyhow...

then vulcan said
I guess it depends on where you live, but I know that basically the entire population of the small town where I came from can be found at the football stadium on certain Friday nights in the fall.

and i insinuated that by being from a small town like that, they prolly don't have cable and won't be able to pick up televised games over the air anymore, thus making a friday night at the high school football game as a hot ticket in town

and then Ernie said
wat

and vulcan understood the joke and responded
hahaha very true

and then you needed a fucking transcript of the thread in order for me to explain a joke that other people understood fine.

Now does it make sense.....
