This is kind of awesome.
Legos are damned expensive for what they are though.
Oh, the cost of having something not made in China... 2/6/2009 12:59:05 AM |

its pretty baller when you can walk in and be like "this is what i want to build"
come up with schematics
and then buy exactly what you need, piece by piece 2/6/2009 1:11:32 AM |

We have one here. It pretty much sucks. Toys'r'Us has a better selection and better prices. And their "brick bucket" selection is pathetically small, and the employees don't know donk about Legos. 2/6/2009 3:02:35 AM |

i always built the stuff and left it. I had the hardest time taking them back apart when i was finished. I guess i was never creative enough to build something on my own but i loved legos 2/6/2009 8:04:00 AM |

I have a friend that has an entire (albeit very small) room in her house devoted to lego creations. She is working on this insane steampunk airship right now that is amazing. She usually ebays for particular pieces, though. 2/6/2009 1:35:12 PM |

A friend of mine down the street had a big lego "island", it was like 4 card tables 2x2 covered in the lego landscapes. Houses, streets, fire department etc etc. It was a city. We'd spend hours hovering over that thing. Simple times 2/7/2009 2:15:36 AM |

I first saw one of these in a Boston mall - I didn't know they existed
The prices are meh, and you can get better selections online. But to see things up in person, and that pick-a-brick wall where you can get a cup or bowl of legos, thats crazy. So glad it wasn't here 15 years ago when I was a kid, I'd have spend too much $ at it. 2/7/2009 1:52:44 PM |

lego has sold out to the corporate franchisers...too many specialty pieces and what not to accomodate the non original crap they produce now
whatever happened to originality? don't these kids want to use their fucking imaginations anymore
on a side note...I got the 2000 piece technic car for xmas a few years ago...parents found it on ebay complete with box and non torn up manual and most of the pieces...was able to assemble it using a few off colored pieces from my own collection....the car is a complete badass...v8...working 4sp transmission, 4w streering, 4w drive, mid rear engine....found it from some dude in germany
I still want that ORIGINAL blacktron spacestation...I have the "newer" blacktron space station after they got their logo changed to that neon "|3" looking thing it wasn't as cool as the all black version....that thing was amazing. for my 5th xmas, I recieved the monorail. Again, bad fucking ass. Still have all the pieces but lack the original manual box, I'd never sell it though, my kids are going to be fucking controlling the universe with the awesomeness collection I've accumulated. Not gonna touch that new stuff. Bionix? wtf? 2/7/2009 3:42:26 PM |

I agree, the solid black minifigs were awesome and I was kinda mad that I never got any. I got the giant pirate ship for my 7th or 8th bday, one of the best entertaining presents I've ever gotten. Over this past Christmas break, I busted out all my boxes of Legos and built myself a pretty nice castle.
I remember as a kid that I sent Lego a letter and suggested that they do some more historic or US military-themed sets. They replied and said they couldn't take ideas from their fanbase for some retarded reason. Some Air Force or Army sets would have been fucking awesome.
I think the set that I have wanted the most after going back and looking at ALL of them is the Space Police I Mission Commander. The SPII's Galactic Mediator (what I have) is close, but not as cool. [Edited on February 7, 2009 at 4:17 PM. Reason : pic linking not allowed, those bastards]

Still have all the pieces to the monorail, they're stashed at my cabin...we'll have to rig it up next time
Simply Awesome!
I had their base....what fucking bad asses these space police were, what an evil sadistic fucking prison cell..I'd love to see al'qaeda fuck with the space police
Got this for my 7th birthday...fucking epic
Always wanted, never got it, may have to invest though!
Had it: props tilt and everything, amazing design
Never liked it but still pretty cool
Got it from my aunt for one of my birthdays...awesome
Got it for one of my xmases....this bad ass motherfucker broke into 3 pieces for extreme ass owning in space
This badass thing would drop it's load in some bad guys mouth piece and then fold up more compact for better ass kicking...also had a perfect midsection for some stellar swoop action with your friends
I did get this, but here is where they started to lose it
what i got for xmas a few years back....best gift ever...aside from absinthe
got this on my maybe 10th or 11th birthday...loved it
got this one xmas too, was cool as hell
god damn I wanted a flex set:
I will own this one before I die
god i hope all these pics work 2/7/2009 4:52:03 PM |

^^^ I'm definitely hooked on that site now. Been reading many reviews of all the classics. I was big on the Space Police 2/Blacktron 2/M-tron space themes but most people on that site seem to think they pale in comparison to original space police/blacktron (which were discontinued long before i joined the game). Its funny how people rate the sets based on unique things like swoosh factor and piece distribution.
I'm definitely gonna register and add all of the sets that I remember owning as a kid, and read up on the huge ones that I always wanted but could not afford 2/8/2009 6:42:56 PM |

I'm super freakin' excited about a Lego store in Raleigh! I went to the one down in Disney around December; bought one of those cups and filled it with as many bricks from the Brick Wall as humanly possible. The lady at the counter had to tape the lid down for me.
BTW this is the best castle set ever:

I had about 3/4 of all the sets pictured. It was the one toy my parents were perfectly happy to indulge me on. I typically would build the main thing and play with it for about a day before it got taken apart and mixed into the box. I built all kinds of fucking sweet ass things man. Fuck an instruction book baby, that's what the imagination is for. 2/9/2009 1:47:10 AM |
