Wait I can't watch a Big Four game on the tube, and to have any hope I have to get ACC Select or Pack Pass? Fuck that! This is complete bullshit that this game isn't broadcasted. It would be a great lead in to the Duke/Crapolina game for all of the Big Four basketball fans out there.

Heat is on for State and Wake Pack and Deacs renew rivalry at RBC Center
RALEIGH -- The N.C. State-Wake Forest basketball series began heating up for the first time in 1910, back when the horse and buggy was one mode of transportation.
As these Big Four foes prepare for their 228th head-to-head shootout tonight at the RBC Center, there's no indication that the flames from this century-old rivalry are flickering out.
The teams have split the past 10 games, with the Wolfpack winning four of five at home, including a buzzer-beater victory last season.
Though on contrasting paths this season, with Wake ranked No. 7 nationally and State stuck in the ACC's lower depths, another photo finish wouldn't be shocking.
Perhaps there will be another frenetic finish like last year, when Ben McCauley followed a missed shot with a throw-down dunk at the buzzer, lifting State to a 67-65 win. Wake later evened the score with a 78-67 victory in Winston-Salem. So goes the seesaw series.
"It's Big Four; it's State; it has become a very heated rivalry," Wake coach Dino Gaudio said. "We have great respect for them."
The heat intensified in 2005 when Deacons point guard Chris Paul punched the Pack's Julius Hodge in the groin, an incident still being screened on YouTube. The Wake star added insult to injury that night on the Wolfpack's home court by hitting the winning shot as time expired.
Paul, who apologized for his mistake, drew a one-game suspension at the ACC Tournament that proved costly to the Deacons. The Pack quickly eliminated a Paul-less Wake 81-65.
After that season, Paul left early for the NBA and Wake dipped. Yet the underdog Deacons still beat Herb Sendek's NCAA Tournament-bound Wolfpack twice in one week that season -- in the final regular-season game and again in the first round of the conference tournament.
But the first real sparks of the rivalry came Dec. 11, 1965. That's when a transformer fire knocked out the lights at Reynolds Coliseum and forced a suspension of the game. Seventy-four days later, on Feb. 23, State finished its 101-75 victory.
"It's always a great game," said State coach Sidney Lowe, who knows a thing or three about the series' history.
In 1983, the year the Pack won the national championship, Lowe dished out 14 assists in a 130-89 victory over Wake at Reynolds.
The Deacons also have had their moments.
In 1975, coach Carl Tacy's team upset the No. 1-ranked, David Thompson-led Pack. And in 2003, Skip Prosser's Deacs beat State 78-72 in Raleigh, giving Wake its first outright ACC regular-season championship in 40 years.
But history won't tell the tale tonight.
To have a shot of pulling off an upset, State can't afford another 22-turnover game like it experienced in Sunday's loss at Virginia Tech. Nor can the Pack allow Deacons guard Jeff Teague to go on a scoring tear.
Wake is dealing with some issues as well. The Deacs have lost their past two road games, and the RBC Center crowd can get howling loud. State's big men, Brandon Costner and McCauley -- who had a 25-point, 15-rebound performance at Virginia Tech -- also are a handful, Gaudio noted.
"We've got to do a good job in post defense," Gaudio said. "But when they throw it inside, you can't give a lot of support. McCauley is as good a post passer as there is in the country, [and] they've got a bunch of guys who can shoot the 3. Also, Sidney does a terrific job exploiting mismatches. He still has that NBA mentality."
Gaudio just hopes his Deacons play like they did in the second half against Boston College, when they hit shots and held the Eagles to 29 points. In short, just keep the heat on in the "heated" rivalry. 2/11/2009 8:17:43 AM |

I guess you do have to see the game to determine which of the following will occur:
Two teams playing fairly even until one team goes on an 8 minute scoring drought One team building a 20 point lead and then finding a way to blow it.
Plus with the battle between the great evils on tonight you'd be lucky if all the other stations aren't playing crappy 90s movies that no one watched / liked.

All games involving the Big Four playing each other should be broadcasted. It doesn't matter how lousy one of the teams is. If UVA and GT can still get their games on TV then we should be able to at least have a game against one of our biggest rivals on TV. Besides it won't interfere with the game between the evil empires b/c it's not on at the same time. This is complete bullshit. 2/11/2009 9:45:50 AM |

i mean this is the better half of the tobacco road rivalry (sarcasm) and they cant give us espnU...
espn could have made some fun out of it
example:
"tune into espnU at 7:00 for the first part of the historic tobacco road rivalries with nc state hosting wake forest, then at 9:00 for the biggest rivalry in college sports duke and unc"
they were scared the nation would stick to our game during the overlap (2nd sarcasm) 2/11/2009 11:10:48 AM |

Should be funny to have the stream going at a bar
For those of you who haven't watched a game on ACC Select before, they basically show the scoreboard's video of the game, and match in the Gary and Tony radio audio...during timeouts you get to see people in the crowd and stuff...and the audio quality isn't superb so it might sound shitty in bar speakers
