He knows what he is not.

1) Athletic
2) Fast
3) A Good Defender

He Also Knows what he is.

1) A Good Spot Up Shooter
2) A Hustle Player

I Respect Horner and will no longer bash him. You have to know your role and he does. He does it well and tries, even in the big games.

I will no longer bash you, Dennis Horner.

yeah, like McCauley.

At least you know what you will get with Horner every time out. It may not be pretty, but it's at 100% effort.

i don't know what happened to mccauley. all he seems to do anymore is throw the ball into the lane and get it stolen.

it's like he just dropped off.

I agree. I still wince every time he comes in the game. But when he's shooting well, he's a really valuable player. He hustle 100% of the time ... that's more than you can say for most of the team.

He's never a valuable player. He's just less crappy sometimes.

I didn't start the season as a horner hater, but he's earned it. I think playing time could be better invested in other players.

he was getting after it on defense against Ed Davis when he was in. I liked watching that battle when it crossed my eyes. He was being pretty tough with him.

i personally don't mind horner. he's not my first choice player to see on the floor, but i think the OP is pretty accurate.

i am straight up the like horner on good nights (tonight) and dislike horner any other time

i never give him a break to have a bad game, so i am a very poor critic of this kid, but tonight, he played his role very well

Noone hates horner when he is in because we all see he tries hard, etc.

We hate on lowe for giving a slow, unathletic dude who basically grinds our offense to a halt so much playing time. When he is in, its like all we can run are isolation pick and rolls on the opposite side.

I like Horner just fine, I just think he should get very limited minutes in any given game.

i don't know how you can hate on Lowe for giving him minutes. There have been times where he has sucked ass but Lowe generally takes him out when he's sucking. Horner has given some solid minutes lately.

Eh, I don't hate on Lowe in general, just when it comes to giving slow unathletic white boys ungodly amounts of PT.

It has gotten better the last couple games, but there was a stretch where Horner was getting 25+ minutes a game, which is laughable on an ACC team. I'm sure Lowe has his reasons, but why was Costner out (with Horner in) for a huge chunk of the second half?

Costner had another 5 turnovers last night. Maybe that had something to do with it.

^^when costner was playing in the second half, did you see him take a shot

he was basically out there just turning the ball over

BC takes himself out when things dont go his way

at least horner was driving/shooting etc

People just see that he scored 13 points and come on here and criticize us for hating on Horner. But it's not his offense that I criticize. Occasionally, and especially lately, he's been proficient on offense.

However, most people don't seem to pay close attention to his lack of rebounding (and boxing out) that causes so many offensive rebounds for the other team. He constantly gets rebounded over, loses loose balls, etc.

More people acknowledge his lack of defense, but I'd go so far as to say that he is a defensive liability. Opposing teams target Horner when he is in the game and get the ball to the man that he is guarding. Watch closely, and count how many points are scored against Horner...it's shocking.

So McCauley doesn't give effort?

I dare say he hustles and wants to win more than the rest. Come on.

why was this thread made? it's known it was going to turn into a horner discussion again and wouldn't stay pro-horner.

It's similar to the lowe thread. I used to want it locked, but now I see it's just a place to post comments, good or bad. I think we only need one horner thread.

^ this is why girls shouldn't be allowed in Sports Talk.

The purpose of this thread was to only be Pro-Horner. Do I think he should get a ton of playing time. NO

Is he our best player? HELL NO.

BUT, when he's out there, he tries and doesn't let a couple of no calls ruin his day. ie: Costner and McCauley

^ i'm not arguing with you about horner.

I'm questioning the validity of this thread. Can you imagine if a mccauley thread was made after he had a crap day. Then a few games later he has a great game and another one is made? There shouldn't be 2 threads about the same person with the exact same content. Nothing in TWW will stay 'Pro anything'. I think you should have made your OP in the other horner thread.

and enough with this shit. I'm a guy, but it doesn't matter. That's an ignorant comment and I'm tired of seeing it. It carries no merit.

Horner is the most pathetic defender on the team.

Although he does occasionally make a good block.
