Allegiance is on that list. I remember alpha/beta testing that game. It was probably one of the best multiplayer games I ever played, just didn't get enough press to really take off.

Good beginner steps:

Build an Academy - Click a spot in your town with a red flag, build an academy. When it's done, you can research.
Assign workers to Sawmill - Click on the Island view, click the place with lumbers, assign lots of people to it.
When the Academy is done, change research so you're researching Well Digging.
When you have enough wood, upgrade the Academy.
When the Academy is done, assign more scientists to it.

Me and a few friends started this up a while ago.

Then we quit two weeks later when one of them found out that it would take multiple lifetimes to even come close to maxing-out even one building.

It's a good bit of entertainment till you stop needing to monitor what's going on, then it just ends up sitting there for days.

played this for a while. as with all "Free" games, it's impossible to do very well without upgrading to the paid subscription. It's also annoying as shit, because of the ridiculous wait periods on the free game.

Anyone play Travian? Apparently it's the best online real-time strategy. My roommate took over someones account and keeps participating in coordinated attacks in his alliance. Seems kinda complicated.
