I've got a little cheapo USB hub that runs off of 5VDC @ 1 amp.

Is it feasible for me to wire up the 5v coming off of my power supply to run my USB hub?

It's feasible, but surely there's a easier way to do whatever it is that you want.

actually that's not a bad idea, just gank it from one of the drive connectors.

well I got a new USB hub that doesn't suck ass

but I have some USB devices (card reader installed in a drive bay, bluetooth adapter, etc) that I want running but not cluttering up my desk or taking up slots on the new USB hub

so I want to install my old USB hub inside my case

wiring it up doesn't seem that difficult... just take the barrel connector from the little transformer that came with the thing and attach it to a molex connector on the 5v line

I just hope I get the positive and negative right

I'm thinking for safety's sake I'm going to wire the thing up to an old PSU before I try attaching this sucker to my primary computer that I need on a daily basis

if you look at the cord to the power adapter, it should be obvious which on is the positive and negative cable
