So last night adam8778 and I were tinkering with the injection pump on his cummins, specifically grinding the fuel plate and adjusting the governor arm height.
Well, we got everything put back together, went for a test drive, and was getting everything put back up when Adam remembered that we had not retightened the jam nut on the gov. arm adjustment stud....went back to the pump and NO STUD OR JAM NUT
(for those of you unfamiliar with this thing, the stud (black) and nut (goldish) are in the lower right quadrant of this picture)
After 20 minutes of picture looking, and 20 more of fishing with a magnet down in the brown oil abyss of his governor housing, I pulled the magnet out in disgust... low and behold there was the stud and nut dangling from it!!!!!
Went to reinstall, and adam dropped the damned thing back into the pump. So i fished it out a second time, only this time it came out with a lockwasher hanging beside it good thing he dropped it back in there, huh! 3/9/2009 10:45:40 AM |
