Dell Inspiron 8500 just doesn't recognize the drive anymore

When i go into the device manager, the drive has a little exclamation point next to it....when i click it i get this message "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

The drive is installed and i know it works

recommendations on how to fix this??
